Onboarding

Look & See Tour
The purpose of the Look & See Tour is to explore the Rhine Valley to determine the best place to live.
You will meet with one of our relocation partner for 1-2 days and receive an overview of insurances, schooling (e.g. ISR), bank, car, etc. The visit of 1 flat as representative example is also planned.
Responsibilities:
Employee:
− sends passports, driver license to Talent Acquisition Team
− covers all other expenses privately (e.g. lunch, fuel etc.)
Hilti:
− the Talent Acquisition team will handle planning travel accommodations
− to be combined with 1st or 2nd interview to avoid additional travel costs

House Hunting
The objective of this visit is to sign a rental contract for an apartment or house, with the process taking 3-5 days.
The House Hunting includes travel and accommodation (economy flights, rental car, hotel). An external service provider will assist with property selection, viewings, contract verification, and local administrative tasks (e.g., insurance, bank, phone, car). Additional help is provided for school and childcare registration.
Responsibilities:
Employee:
− aligns on date for house hunting with relocation partner and sends passports, driver license to HR Specialist
− searches an apartment and signs rental contract (supported by relocation partner)
− covers all other expenses privately (e.g. lunch, fuel, flight upgrade etc.)
Hilti:
− HR connects the relocation partner and employee
− covers the house hunting costs according to policy

Travel Support / Relocation
The purpose of this process is to ensure a smooth and safe transition for you and your relocating family during house hunting and relocation.
Services provided include coordination of travel arrangements such as economy flights, rental cars, and airport transfers (for the family only).
Additionally, we offer three paid working days at the start of employment to complete personal tasks related to relocation, such as registration, setting up a bank account, and managing household goods arrival.

− submits passports, driver license, travel details (date, airport etc.) to HR Specialist
− covers all other expenses privately (e.g. flight upgrade, lunch, fuel etc.)
− attempts to sign a rental contract before the start of employment
Hilti:
− organized by HR Specialist
− covers the costs according to policy

Our relocation package includes the following services to help you settle into your new home quickly and seamlessly:
Relocation

Relocation of Goods with Sirva
Hilti supports you and your relocating family (spouse, children) to relocate to the area and start your career with Hilti Headquartes.
Relocation with a minimum of 100 km are supported. Hilti will assume the cost of transporting the furniture including insurance according to the Relocation Guideline.
Responsibilities:
Employee:
− initiates the move before or within the first 6 months after start of employment
− delivers required documents on time, collaborates with SIRVA
− covers all excluded services according to the policy privately
− amount is subject to social insurance contribution and taxable
Hilti:
− connects SIRVA and employee, approves quotations, ensures the policy is being followed
− covers the agreed package costs

Moving Allowance
The moving allowance is an alternative to HQ's Relocation Service. It allows you to cover costs for:
− relocation of household goods as organized directly by the you
− excess baggage, a rented car/van, gas, vignette (road tax), airfreight
If you choose to use the moving allowance instead of Sirva’s relocation services, you will be responsible for moving your items yourself.
Moving Allowance Categories:
− move within the country CHF 2'500 (gross)
− move to another country CHF 4’000 (gross)
This amount is an addition to the relocation lump sum.

− organizes the relocation of household goods privately
− fully liable for customs clearance formalities, etc.
− amount is subject to social insurance contribution and taxable.
Hilti:
− will pay a lump sum with the first salary of employment
− won’t provide any further support or take over any responsibility

Relocation Lump Sum
This sum is intended to be used to offset various extraordinary costs incurred in conjunction with relocation.
Hilti will pay the employe a one-off lump sum:

− move must be initiated within the first 6 months after start of employment
− if non-European citizen: hands in invoices for translation costs to HR Specialist
− amount is subject to social insurance contribution and taxable
Hilti:
− will pay a one-time lump sum with the first salary of employment
− HR Specialist will initiate the reimbursement of translation invoice

Temporary Accommodation
To bridge the time until your apartment is ready, we offer support for you and your relocating family (spouse, children).
You can choose either rental furniture or temporary housing, but not both.
This service includes up to 4 weeks of accommodation in the Rhine Valley (not in your home country). If the furniture delivery is delayed beyond our control, the Integration Manager can extend the support period.
Responsibilities:
Employee:
− starts house hunting early to sign rental contract
− reaches out to HR Specialist in time if temporary accommodation is required
− starts the relocation of household goods in time (process with SIRVA can be started before rental contract is signed)
− covers and organizes any additional required hotel stay in home country.
− amount is subject to social insurance contribution and taxable
Hilti:
− organized by HR Specialist
− covers the costs according to standard

Rental Furniture
To bridge the time until your apartment is ready, we offer support for you and your relocating family (spouse, children).
You can choose either rental furniture or temporary housing, but not both.
This service includes up to 4 weeks of rental furniture in FL/CH/AT/DE. If the furniture delivery is delayed beyond our control, the Integration Manager can extend the support period.

Rental Car
This service provides you with reliable transportation for up to 4 weeks (at Hilti conditions) to complete registration and relocation tasks.
If the residence permit is delayed, the Integration Manager can extend the support.

− has a valid driver's license
− reaches out to HR Specialist in time if rental car is required for reservation process
− covers all other expenses privately (e.g. fuel costs, tolls, parking fees etc.)
− amount is subject to social insurance contribution and taxable

Pet Relocation
The purpose of this service is to acknowledge the strong bond between humans and their pets. The service provides a one-time lump sum payment against receipt, regardless of the number of pets being relocated.

Home Leave Flight Allowance
This service helps you stay connected with family and friends. It is available to you and your relocating family (spouse, children), if your original home is overseas and you were not recruited within Europe. Travel days will count as vacation days.
Hilti will provide you with an annual home leave flight allowance during the first 24 months. This allowance offers flexibility, allowing you to either travel home or have your family visit you in the area.

− amount is subject to social insurance contribution and taxable
Hilti:
− HR Specialist initiates the payment of the lump sum
(the payment happens in the 1st and 13th month of employment)

Tax Advice
The following services with tax experts are provided (only with Hilti Partners):
This service must be started before or within the first 12 months after the start of employment.
Responsibilities:
Employee:
− ensures to use this benefit within the first year after employment start (validity duration)
− uses Hilti Tax Partners to benefit from this integration offer
− amount is subject to social insurance contribution and taxable
Hilti:
− beofre employment start: HR BP / TA BP decides if package is required and initates the process
− after employment starts package: HR provides contact details of tax expert (REDi Link)
− covers the costs according to policy

Language, Career and Education

Language Course
This service offers financial support for German language courses to help you and your relocating family to feel at home in the Rhine Valley.
Hilti provides up to CHF 3'000.00 for the employee and CHF 3'000.00 each for the partner and children.
Courses must start within 18 months of employment, and employees can choose their provider.
Responsibilities:
Employee:
− and family: aim for German proficiency at B1 level (CEFR) or advance one level if already proficient.
− submits own invoice for refund in concur (no impact on social insurance or taxes)
− hands in registration confirmation for family members to the HR Specialist to receive a lump sum with the next
salary. The amount for the family is subject to social insurance contribution and taxable.
− informs line manager proactively about progress
Hilti:
− Line Manager controls and approves the invoices for the employee in concur and follows-up on progress
− HR Specialist will check the registration confirmation and initiates the payment of the lump sum for the family

Spousal Career Orientation
This service helps your relocating spouse in the Rhine Valley/Eastern Switzerland/Vorarlberg region to explore career opportunities.
It includes 1-2 calls with the Talent Acquisition Team for guidance on applications, LinkedIn, job interviews, and local job resources.
If additional support is needed, the Talent Acquisition Team will connect the spouse to an external provider (LHH). The spouse can choose from different support packages based on their needs (typically options 1, 1+2, or 1+3).

− spouse should start the service within 12 months after relocating
− if external support is used, employee will get a deduction on the pay slip (amount depends on selected package).

Hilti:
− TA conducts introduction call(s), guides through the process and connects spouse with external partner when
applicable
− Hilti covers costs according to packages overview

International School Rheintal (ISR)
This service supports your children with their international school education. It is aimed at non-German-speaking children, as per ISR rules, as well as those temporarily in the region (e.g., WTO) or nearing the end of their schooling.
Duration and coverage:
− registration fee for all levels (non-refundable - yearly fee)
− capital fund fee (non-refundable - once)
− tuition fee for all levels (according to grade and year)
− Tuition & Fees ISR - cost for full year; varies per grade

− ensures that their child/children attend school regularly and adheres to school guidelines and policies.
− covers all other expenses privately (e.g. bus, lunches, school-trips, after school support etc.)
− amount is subject to social insurance contribution and taxable
Hilti:
− pays the agreed amount directly to ISR
FAQ
Employees relocating to the Rhine Valley to begin the employment with Hilti HQ (minimum distance of relocation 100 km).
The principle of one-off benefits provided by Hilti is to ease the integration of the assignees and their family into the new location. Our goal is care, ensuring fair, cost-effective, and good services.
Allowances are provided in CHF gross; it’s essential to consider their tax and social contribution implications.
Employees are responsible for accurately declaring their income and benefits in their country of residence. It is recommended that employees living outside the employer's country seek tax advice to ensure compliance with local tax laws. Hilti offers tax consultants through the Benefits Portal to assist with this.
