Category Manager - Indirect Categories

What's the Role?

The purpose of the role is to optimize the indirect procurement activities of Hilti by having aligned category strategies and applying procurement expertise to support the business in getting the best results from a total value perspective. The role involves recognizing economic impact and proposing new ideas. The job holder needs to master, review and ensure compliance and evaluate the impact for the organization. Scope: Elevated role in Regional structure - responsible for tactical and strategic procurement tasks such as defining category roadmaps and imperatives, selection of strategic suppliers, and managing supplier relationships.

What does the role involve?

Category Management

  • Sound understanding of all elements and concepts of the procurement process & ability to trigger levers to sustainably create value through category strategies
  • Develop strategic procurement initiatives & best practices to develop the lowest total cost and maintain  high quality standards
  • Lead sourcing indirect categories and services to ensure optimized purchases are competitive and cost-effective
  • Own relevant RFP operations, including supplier studies, RFP establishment, submissions, deadlines, contract and term negotiations, and final recommendations
  • Develop and maintain mutually beneficial ties with local and international suppliers & facilitate business review meetings
  • Understand and successfully apply the process for supplier performance and risk management to drive continuous value creation and risk mitigation
  • Have a clear understanding of the indirect spend report for you own sourcing categories

Collaborative Business Partner
  • Develop and maintain close working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Proactively inform management and the wider organization of their spend, influencing and promoting strategic sourcing and optimizing spend
  • Give stakeholders appropriate assistance to ensure that suppliers are effective in their daily operational procurement services.
  • Engage with Global or Regional teams & effectively implement projects in designated markets

Entrepreneurship
  • Curious beyond their field of expertise to understand our business and partnership with different functions
  • Recognize the economic impact factors across the business and suggest alternatives to optimize the management of spending
  • Have the passion to propose new ideas or innovation, that would contribute in organizational development

Process and Compliance
  • Master, review and ensure compliance and evaluate the consequences for the organization if the rules are not followed
  • Continuously seek ways to improve operational productivity & efficiency

What do we offer?

What you need is:

  • University degree in Procurement, Business Administration, Supply Chain, Economics or Finance
  • Fluency in English, portuguese speaker is a plus
  • Proven success over a sustained period (3-5 years) in delivering competitive advantage to the business within a global environment through development and implementation of sourcing strategies in the indirect procurement activities. Managing Fleet & Facilities categories is highly desired 
  • Ability to successfully lead projects and implement change
  • Demonstrated abilities in risk management, responsible sourcing and suppliers relationship management
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills - with the ability to influence and collaborate with a variety of stakeholders across a complex organization
  • Understanding of National and International Procurement Regulations
