Intern – (Technical) Project Benchmarking Direct Fastening Tools (m/f/x)

What's the role?

Are you eager to understand the mechanics behind direct fastening tools? Are you curious about how our Hilti tools measure up against others in the market? Are you willing to contribute your unique perspectives and aid in laying the groundwork for future product innovations? If so, consider becoming part of our diverse and international team of developers. You will be at the forefront of our benchmarking insights for direct fastening tools. This role involves examining existing data from an extensive database, conducting independent tool validations, formulating innovative ideas/concepts/improvement strategies, and spearheading their tangible execution.

Start date is February 2025, duration for at least 6 months

Who is Hilti?

For the sixth time in the past 11 years, Hilti has been named one of the best employers by Great Place to Work.

What began as a family business in 1941, founded by brothers Eugene and Martin Hilti, has become a leading industry player with over 120 locations worldwide and a workforce of more than 33,000 colleagues. Our incredible journey, from humble beginnings to a global powerhouse, is a shining example of the rewards of a hard-working and dedicated team.

At Hilti, we provide leading-edge tools, technologies, software, and services for the global construction industry and beyond. Our purpose is making construction better based on a passionate and inclusive global team and a caring and performance-oriented culture.

We invest a substantial amount of our annual profit to the Hilti Foundation, which focuses on initiatives that empower people to live independently and autonomously, contribute to building stronger societies, and create networks of competent partners to achieve sustainable and scalable impact.

What does the role involve?

As an intern in our team, you'll join a highly skilled development group. You will collaborate with our specialists in product development, testing, supply, and marketing to create an interactive dashboard that simplifies access to knowledge and enhances its transparency.
Your primary duties will involve analyzing, evaluating, validating and documenting products from Hilti and competitors for our direct fastening tools. This will give you the opportunity to gain detailed understanding of the various mechanical and electrical working principles, deep dive into manufacturing processes/technologies and learn more about decoding marketing messages as well as patent applications. With this baseline, you will be able to support us in the definition of innovative ideas/concepts for future products.

Let’s hear what one of our former interns has to say about doing an internship in our team:

Zarina, intern: "I got the chance of working in the product lifecycle management team which allowed me to get a broad insight into the versatile work of an engineer, getting a deep understanding as well of the battery- as of the gas-actuated direct fastening tool. I had challenging tasks and was able to shape the direction of my internship myself by focusing on topics which I wanted to learn more about while contributing to the department's success in a meaningful way. I had an amazing time during my internship and gained a lot of important skills, I strongly recommend applying and seizing the invaluable opportunity of gaining hands-on experience and being a part of Hilti."

What do we offer?

Joining more than 2100 colleagues from over 70 nationalities at one of our headquarters locations in Schaan, Nendeln, or Buchs is more than a career move. It’s your opportunity to enjoy the energizing, alpine lifestyle - where Liechtenstein, Austria, and Switzerland seamlessly meet.

Share your interests and become a part of one of our employee groups leading change locally, for example, supporting female empowerment or the LGBTQ+ community or joining a leisure group for a Wednesday mountain bike ride or tennis match. If you are passionate about giving back to the community, we have various opportunities to volunteer through our engaged beyond business program locally and internationally.

Additional benefits of our headquarters location include shared e-bikes for your commute, an on-site gym, three restaurants, and language courses.

What you need is:

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor’s / Master’s program in mechanical/electrical engineering or similar for the internship period
  • Good knowledge of data analysis with MS Office, Minitab or similar programs
  • Familiar with an independent work style and ready to take responsibility in own area of competence
  • Strong interpersonal skills to successfully perform in a global matrix environment and demonstrated ability in stakeholder management
  • Fluency in spoken and written English and German

Why should you apply?

About you: you are someone who wants to influence your own development. You’re looking for a company where you have the opportunity to pursue your interests across functions and geographies, where a job title is not considered a final destination but the starting point.
