What's the role?

The project manager is the entrepreneur in Hilti that turns assets (knowledge, people, and equipment) into innovative products to achieve long term differentiation vs competition. Technical understanding, combined with very good people and communication skills are essential to perform this job.

What does the role involve?

  • Manage complex new product development projects with a stage gate product development process.
  • Secure achievement of project targets related to product value proposition, quality, timeline, and budget.
  • Work closely with product manager to align customer requirements with Hilti product and production technologies, while maintaining differentiation versus competition.
  • Partner with sourcing manager to achieve cost target, asset utilization, and cash conversion targets.
  • Work closely with testing and approvals manager to understand testing process and how this impacts product performance and differentiation versus main competitors.
  • Consult with quality manager to understand product risk and project risk analysis process and results, incorporate recommendations in overall project plan.
  • Accept responsibility for time and delivery of the project, and related project documentation.
  • Participate in international / interdisciplinary projects.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

What you need is:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering required, preferably mechanical or civil engineering; master’s degree preferred, ideally combined with business experience
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in new product development projects, preferably as project manager
  • Ability to inspire interdisciplinary teams.
  • High commitment, self-responsibility, and customer orientation
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; proven ability to communicate complex situations in an easy-to-understand manner.
