Enterprise Architect

Enterprise Architect

As an Enterprise Architect, you report to the Global Head of Enterprise Architecture and own strategic, tactical, and operational enterprise architecture decisions within a specific domain. Collaborating closely with Global IT and cross-functional business partners, you will actively shape Hilti’s global technology ecosystem.

What You'll do

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive Architecture Maturity: Advance our global architecture practice, establishing robust standards and ensuring enterprise-wide adherence.
  • Strategic Solutioning: Lead the architectural design and delivery for major, high-impact strategic initiatives within Global IT.
  • Balance Governance & Enablement: Navigate the intersection of governance and internal consulting, requiring a holistic enterprise perspective without losing sight of technical granularities.

Qualifications & Attributes
This intellectually stimulating role demands deep technical competence forged through hands-on experience in designing and delivering complex technology solutions. Exceptional interpersonal and stakeholder-management skills are essential to successfully balancing alignment with innovation.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree or master’s in computer science, Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering or similar
  • A strong strategic mindset with a proven track record of aligning technology landscape strategies with overarching business objectives.
  • More than 7 years of relevant work experience in Enterprise Architecture, built on top of increasing responsibilities as a software developer, team lead, software or data architect, and solution architect.
  • Ideally, you also have some experience in leading or being a member of a project team responsible for delivering large IT projects.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and collaboration skills in an international environment – empathy, inter-cultural awareness, and emotional intelligence.
  • One or more of the following certificates are advantageous but not strictly necessary: TOGAF, Open CA, ITIL, CISSP-ISSAP
  • Fluent in English (verbally and written)

What’s In It for You

You will join our international Enterprise Architecture team, operating with high visibility from the CIO. In this role, you will take ownership of landscape-shaping initiatives, collaborating closely with the IT leadership team to drive the evolution of our technology ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ecosystem & Standard Definition: Establish and contribute to global architecture standards and target architecture, in collaboration with the cybersecurity team and solution architects.
  • Landscape Evolution: Map current capabilities, identify critical IT capability gaps, and steer the definition of priorities for each functional and cross-functional domain.
  • Technology Foresight & Governance: Build and maintain the enterprise Technology Radar while steering the architecture governance processes.
  • Practice Advancement: Champion architecture skills development initiatives to elevate overall maturity across Global IT and Hilti’s Business Units.

Required Expertise
To succeed in this role, you must bring a powerful blend of deep technical mastery and sharp business acumen:

  • Technical Proficiency: Proven expertise across modern technology stacks, with a strong emphasis on at least one of the following topics: Cloud Infrastructure, the SAP solution landscape, Data Architecture, and emerging paradigms such as Agentic AI.

  • Domain & Business Acumen: A good understanding of functional business domains — such as Sales & Marketing, Finance, Logistics, HR, or Subscription-based business models — enabling you to effectively understand the business context of each solution you review.

You will collaborate closely with Solution Architects from each functional domain, as well as with our cybersecurity team and business stakeholders to steer solution designs and ensure adherence to Global IT’s strategy, security policies, and architecture standards.

You will have opportunities to discuss architecture-related recommendations in your area of responsibility with the IT leadership team, the CIO, and, potentially, members of Hilti’s Executive Board.
