How Our Story Started

Tori first became formally involved with Little Light House through Leadership Tulsa, where she served as a Board Intern in 2022. However, her connection to Little Light House began much earlier, in 2004, when she volunteered as a cheerleader at a fundraising event. Since that time, Little Light House has remained a powerful symbol of the incredible and meaningful work being done to support the children it serves.

Following her Board Internship, Tori was voted in as an official Board Member, giving her the opportunity to serve alongside other influential leaders in the Tulsa community. In this role, she actively participates in committees and contributes to decision-making that helps guide the future growth and activities of Little Light House.

In April 2024, she invited one of her previous mentees in their time together in the Central channels organization, Josh, to join her for what seemed like a simple volunteer project – assembling office furniture for the school. Josh had recently moved into a senior manager role in Order Management and had relocated to Tulsa from his prior role in Dallas. He wasn’t anticipating that just one afternoon building cabinets and desks would turn into something much larger. Josh left that event inspired and deeply connected to Little Light House’s mission, and together, Tori and Josh began partnering to drive an even deeper relationship with this amazing organization.

A year later, in May 2025, Tori approached me about joining her and Josh in supporting the newly formed Young Professionals Board (YPB) at Little Light House. I met Tori in 2023 when I moved to the Order Management department. Tori and I initially began our relationship through a faith-based book club that meets during lunchtime every month. My first introduction to Josh was during a volunteer event at the Little Lighthouse, I learned that he too shared a passion for the organization. I shared with Tori and Josh my personal experience growing up with a sibling with special needs and believed my background would bring meaningful perspective to the Board’s mission and the families it serves. It didn’t take long for me to understand why she was so passionate. From the first moment I learned about Little Light House, its mission to provide tuition-free early intervention and education to children with special needs, I knew this was an organization I wanted to stand behind. Their commitment to empowering children and families at no cost, made possible entirely by donors, volunteers, and community partners, is nothing short of remarkable.

Growing Our Involvement

When Tori brought Josh into Little Light House’s volunteer community in 2024, they quickly became the go‑to partners for projects ranging from building, repairing, and technology improvements to event support and donor engagement. Throughout 2024, Hilti volunteers contributed 163 hours across six major volunteer events, including climbing wall installation, furniture assembly, yard improvements, facility repairs, and more.

In 2025, as our partnership deepened, Hilti volunteers delivered another 150 volunteer hours across seven projects, supporting everything from commissioning customer furniture for the Mobile Learning Center, to wheelchair donation transport, water park repairs, landscaping, and Little Light House’s signature fundraising event, Laps for Little Ones.

Tori, Josh, and I all joined the Young Professionals Board and Parent Board in various capacities, expanding our roles from hands-on volunteers to fundraisers, strategists, event planners, and ambassadors. Engaging with Little Light House through both boards has allowed us to apply our professional skills, operations, project management, leadership, and community engagement to help elevate their mission even further.

What Is the Legacy Cup and What It Meant to Win

The Legacy Cup is one of Hilti’s most meaningful recognitions; a company-wide celebration of employees who live our core values through community service. It represents:

  • A commitment to building a better future beyond our day jobs
  • Demonstrating Hilti’s culture of service in a way that inspires others
  • Driving lasting impact within our communities

Winning the Legacy Cup was one of the most humbling and emotional moments for our team. We did not pursue the work for recognition; Little Light House has given us far more than we could ever give back, but seeing this mission acknowledged at an organizational level was incredibly meaningful.

Someone within the Hilti community witnessed the impact happening between our Tulsa Operations teams and the Little Light House and believed it deserved broader visibility, and nominated us for the annual award. The nomination alone was an honor.

The award amplified the voice of Little Light House far beyond Tulsa. It opened doors to conversations across Hilti North America and internationally, inspiring colleagues who had never heard of Little Light House to learn, contribute, and volunteer.

Why This Partnership Matters So Deeply

Working with Little Light House is not just about the hours we volunteer or the projects we support. It’s seeing children take their first steps, families find hope they didn’t know was possible, and a community rally around an organization that gives everything at no cost.

The real impact is measured in joy, dignity, and possibility.

Our Hilti volunteers have consistently shown up for Little Light House; not because they were asked to, but because they felt moved to. And those contributions have created real, tangible change for the school, the staff, and the families they serve.

Our Takeaways

If there is one thing we hope readers take away, it’s this:

Whether you volunteer once or become a long-term partner, your involvement makes a difference.

Little Light House relies entirely on community support through hands-on help, event participation, corporate sponsorships, and donations of time, talent, or resources.

If you feel inspired by their mission, here’s how you can get involved:

  • Volunteer at one of their campus workdays
  • Participate in Laps for Little Ones
  • Donate to support a child’s education
  • Connect your team or department to an upcoming project
  • Share Little Light House’s story within your own networks

Every hour matters. Every contribution matters. And every person who steps forward becomes part of something much bigger.

We are grateful for the journey that connected the three of us, grateful to represent Hilti in this work, and grateful to continue standing alongside the Little Light House as partners in hope, joy, and life-changing impact.
