Senior DevOps Platform Engineer

Drive DevOps Excellence Globally

The Senior DevOps Platform Engineer is a hands-on senior engineer responsible for dedicated ownership and modernization of the shared DevOps platform across F&P Solutions. Building on broad Senior DevOps capability, the role focuses on Kubernetes/EKS scalability, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD foundations, reusable infrastructure services, environment management, disaster recovery, platform guardrails, and AI-ready engineering environments. The job holder turns recurring product-team needs into standardized, automated, and supportable platform capabilities that improve onboarding, migrations, delivery confidence, and adoption of DevOps practices. The role works across Product, Development, Architecture, Security, SRE, Quality, cloud service owners, vendors, and global DevOps communities while remaining directly engaged in engineering and complex problem solving.

What You'll do

  • Platform engineering ownership: Own and evolve shared DevOps platform capabilities that make software delivery, infrastructure provisioning, environment management, and product onboarding more repeatable, scalable, secure, and self-service.
  • Kubernetes and cloud platform modernization: Build, standardize, and improve Kubernetes/EKS platforms, including networking, upgrades, horizontal scalability, workload reliability, environment consistency, disaster recovery, and production readiness.
  • Reusable infrastructure services: Design and maintain reusable Terraform modules, deployment patterns, platform services, golden paths, templates, and automation that product teams can consume without rebuilding common capabilities.
  • CI/CD foundation modernization: Lead improvements to the CI/CD foundation, including pipeline standards, artifact flows, automated quality and security controls, deployment consistency, traceability, and release readiness.
  • Environment management and onboarding: Reduce product onboarding and migration effort through automated environment creation, configuration, access enablement, documentation, and standardized handover patterns.
  • Policy and platform guardrails: Implement practical platform guardrails using IAM, policy as code, Kubernetes admission controls such as Gatekeeper or equivalent capabilities, secrets management, network controls, and approved enterprise standards.
  • AI-ready platform enablement: Help establish secure, supportable environments and governance patterns for AI-enabled engineering and platform use cases, including reusable integrations and Model Context Protocol enablement where approved.
  • Reliability and continuity: Engineer platform observability, backup, recovery, resilience, capacity, and disaster-recovery capabilities in partnership with SRE and product teams.
  • Product-team enablement: Partner directly with software teams to understand delivery friction, provide technical guidance, support complex onboarding or migrations, and convert recurring requests into durable platform capabilities.
  • Technical leadership and impact: Challenge existing approaches constructively, document decisions and standards, mentor engineers, reduce knowledge concentration and vendor dependency, and communicate measurable platform outcomes and risks to stakeholders.
  • Operational support with an engineering bias: Provide hands-on support for complex platform issues while prioritizing root-cause correction, automation, reusable fixes, and reduction of recurring operational toil.
  • Other duties: Perform other related duties as needed or assigned.

What You’ll Bring

  • This position is not eligible for employer-sponsored work authorization or visa sponsorship (including initial, transfer, or extension), and candidates must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of application and remain authorized for the duration of employment without the need for sponsorship.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, information technology, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Five or more years of hands-on experience in DevOps, cloud engineering, platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, software engineering, or a closely related technical role.
  • Strong hands-on experience with AWS services such as EC2, VPC, S3, IAM, RDS/Aurora, load balancing, Lambda, and related cloud services.
  • Production-level experience with Kubernetes, preferably Amazon EKS, including containerized workloads, networking, security, scalability, upgrades, and operational readiness.
  • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code, preferably Terraform, and infrastructure automation practices.
  • Experience designing, building, and improving CI/CD pipelines, preferably GitLab CI/CD, for consistent, secure, and reliable deployments.
  • Strong scripting and automation experience in Linux-based or cloud-native environments using Bash, Python, or a similar language.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure, application, deployment, networking, security, and operational issues across multiple layers.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills, including the ability to clarify ambiguity, align stakeholders, document decisions, communicate risk, and influence without formal authority.
  • Demonstrated curiosity, ownership, technical judgment, and the ability to balance strategic improvement with hands-on delivery.
  • Demonstrated experience owning or materially improving a shared cloud or developer platform used by multiple product teams.
  • Advanced experience building reusable Terraform modules, platform automation, self-service workflows, or standardized environment patterns.
  • Experience with Kubernetes governance, admission control, policy enforcement, environment isolation, backup/recovery, and horizontal scalability.
  • Experience improving product onboarding, cloud migrations, or platform adoption through reusable patterns rather than one-off implementation.
Preferred qualifications
  • Five or more years of experience in DevOps, cloud, platform, infrastructure, security, or software engineering environments.
  • Experience working in an enterprise or global organization with distributed teams.
  • Experience collaborating with security, compliance, enterprise architecture, cloud platform, SRE, vendor, and product teams.
  • Experience with Datadog, CloudWatch, SonarQube/SonarQ, JFrog, Veracode, LaunchDarkly, Helm, Ansible, secrets management, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with application stacks such as PostgreSQL, .NET, Angular, APIs, or cloud-native microservices.
  • Relevant AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform, DevOps, platform engineering, or security certifications.
  • Experience mentoring engineers, raising technical standards, and enabling adoption through documentation, coaching, reusable examples, and hands-on collaboration.
  • Experience with platform engineering concepts such as internal developer platforms, golden paths, service catalogs, developer portals, or reusable infrastructure products.
  • Experience with Open Policy Agent, Gatekeeper, policy as code, GitOps, Argo CD, or equivalent governance and deployment capabilities.
