Driving Seamless Global Trade & Logistics Excellence
As Assistant Manager – Imports & Exports, you will be responsible for managing end-to-end international logistics operations, ensuring seamless import and export processes while maintaining compliance with Indian regulations and Hilti’s global standards. The role requires close collaboration with global supply chain teams, customs authorities, logistics partners, and internal stakeholders to deliver operational excellence, cost efficiency, and compliance.
What You'll do
- Manage day-to-day import and export operations, including shipment planning, documentation, and execution
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, shipping lines, and customs brokers to ensure timely clearance
- Monitor inbound and outbound shipments to ensure adherence to delivery timelines and service levels
- Ensure compliance with Indian customs regulations, DGFT guidelines, and international trade laws
- Manage and verify import/export documentation such as invoices, packing lists, Bill of Entry, shipping bills, and certificates of origin
- Handle regulatory requirements including duty exemptions, licenses, and special schemes
- Act as key contact for internal teams (material management, finance, warehouse) regarding international logistics
- Collaborate with regional/global import export teams to align on shipment schedules and priorities
- Maintain strong relationships with logistics service providers and customs officials
- Track and optimize logistics costs including freight, duties, and demurrage/ detention
- Identify and implement process improvements for efficiency and cost reduction
- Monitor KPIs such as clearance timelines, delivery performance, and compliance adherence
- Identify and mitigate risks related to delays, compliance issues, or shipment discrepancies
- Ensure proper escalation and resolution of exceptions
- Maintain accurate records for audits and compliance reviews
What You’ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Logistics, International Trade, or related field (MBA Preferred)
- 4-5 years of experience in import/export operations, preferably in a multinational environment
- Strong knowledge of Indian customs procedures and import/export regulations
- Experience with ERP systems and logistics platforms
- Understanding of INCOTERMS, duty structures, and freight management
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
- Excellent coordination and stakeholder management abilities
- Attention to detail and compliance-focused mindset
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
