What's the role?

You will actively contribute to the execution of industrial research projects for developing the next generation of cordless power tools at Hilti. You will be part of a multi-cultural team and responsible in collaboration with your colleagues for delivering fundamental knowledge on battery technology.
Are you willing to make a significant contribution to our cordless platform? Then we are looking forward to receiving your application.

Start date is flexible to the student's availability, duration for 4-6 months.

Who is Hilti?

For the sixth time in the past 11 years, Hilti has been named one of the best employers by Great Place to Work.
What began as a family business in 1941, founded by brothers Eugene and Martin Hilti, has become a leading industry player with over 120 locations worldwide and a workforce of more than 33,000 colleagues. Our incredible journey, from humble beginnings to a global powerhouse, is a shining example of the rewards of a hard-working and dedicated team.
At Hilti, we provide leading-edge tools, technologies, software, and services for the global construction industry and beyond. Our purpose is making construction better based on a passionate and inclusive global team and a caring and performance-oriented culture.
We invest a substantial amount of our annual profit to the Hilti Foundation, which focuses on initiatives that empower people to live independently and autonomously, contribute to building stronger societies, and create networks of competent partners to achieve sustainable and scalable impact.

What does the role involve?

As an intern, you'll join our dynamic interdisciplinary battery team, where you'll dive into cutting-edge lithium-ion battery technology. In this role, you'll collaborate closely with our battery experts in testing and developing an advanced battery analysis tool. Your mission? Creating a tool that will consolidate our recently developed battery analysis methods. You'll also support our battery testing team by performing laboratory experiments to further explore this exciting field of research.

Interns play a pivotal role within our battery team, and their contributions often lead to exciting opportunities for career growth within the team or the company. One such success story is that of Jonathan, a former team member who initially joined as an intern and made a significant impact through his brilliant project. His dedication and interest eventually led him to pursue a master's project in collaboration with us. The journey didn't stop there, as Jonathan recently embarked on a PhD program at ETH University in Zurich, where he continues to work on advancing our battery technology to enhance our NURON battery platform.

What do we offer?

Joining more than 2100 colleagues from over 70 nationalities at one of our headquarters locations in Schaan, Nendeln, or Buchs is more than a career move. It’s your opportunity to enjoy the energizing, alpine lifestyle - where Liechtenstein, Austria, and Switzerland seamlessly meet.
Share your interests and become a part of one of our employee groups leading change locally, for example, supporting female empowerment or the LGBTQ+ community or joining a leisure group for a Wednesday mountain bike ride or tennis match. If you are passionate about giving back to the community, we have various opportunities to volunteer through our engaged beyond business program locally and internationally.
Additional benefits of our headquarters location include shared e-bikes for your commute, an on-site gym, three restaurants, language courses, learning and development training opportunities, tax insurance, financial guidance, child care, relocation and spousal support, and more.

What you need is:

  • Enrollment in a Master’s program in computer science, electrical engineer or physics for the entire internship duration.
  • Experienced in programming, specifically MATLAB. Python is a plus.
  • A proactive approach and self-reliant personality.
  • Enthusiasm of being part of an international team.
  • Excellent communication skills spoken and written English.

Why should you apply?

You are a driven engineer with a passion for exploring and actively shaping the future of battery technology. You seek a company that fosters open communication among colleagues and values the intern community's involvement beyond their immediate teams, with initiatives like the Innovation and Improvement by Interns (i3) program. If you are dedicated to achieving project goals, eager to learn from your colleagues, and excited about actively contributing to the team's growth, then you are the ideal candidate for us.
