What does the role involve?
As a Lead Engineer with a focus on Offshore, you will be linked with the Project Management Office (PMO) and direct your efforts towards implementing the Hilti strategy by providing highly differentiated solutions to our Top Accounts across the Asia Pacific. You will join a global community of highly motivated and passionate professionals, working with leading national and international players, such as owners, EPC’s, specifiers.
What You'll do
Your main responsibilities:
- Being part of the project execution team as a Lead Engineer, decentralized from the main operations in the back-office but supporting execution and leading technically the projects.
- Work closely with national and international capture teams to understand clients’ needs on key applications and consult on Hilti or Oglaend Systems modular support system and firestop solutions.
- Engineer and design key applications based on customer’s requirements, providing optimal solutions fulfilling technical, economic, and logistic constraints. This requires also to learn how to deal with the relevant software for the Offshore industries.
- Ensure the adherence to relevant codes and Hilti standards in project engineering.
- Travel locally and abroad, visit and collaborate with national and international stakeholders on-site or in the construction yard during design and/or construction phases, as required.
- Develop project-specific best practice documentation to contribute to increasing PMO know-how.
- Prepare engineering reports (calculation notes) for designed applications.
- Compile a bill of materials to support project bids and fulfilment, in coordination with other colleagues at Hilti (e.g. order management, logistics)
- Act as quality gate keeper, when applicable, providing inputs to modelers and drafters and performing QA/QC activities where relevant.
What You’ll Bring
- Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
- At least 3 years of experience as a civil/mechanical engineer in offshore or energy industry; Relevant experience in wind offshore is considered a plus.
- Strong communication skills in English (verbal & written). Proficiency in Japanese for business level communication.
- Good understanding of structural design:
o 3D Modelling experience (modelling in Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Revit, AVEVA E3D or Hexagon Smart3D is considered a plus)
- Understanding the correlation between technical and commercial aspects of engineering work.
- Empathy and ability to work in a multicultural environment.
