Intern – Tribology testing (m/f/x)

What's the role?

We are looking for a motivated intern to apply her or his skills and knowledge in performing tribological tests. You will be characterizing wear, friction and tribological phenomena of high-end components to be used in our products. Your contribution will consolidate the Hilti product portfolio and help us to identify innovative and sustainable solutions for power tools and consumables. You will have insights to the latest developments at Corporate Research at Hilti.

Start date is flexible to the student's availability, duration for at least 6 months.

What does the role involve?

In this role, you will be responsible for conducting experimental tests on tribometers to characterize friction, wear, and lubrication. This involves setting up experiments, running tests, and meticulously recording data. Following the completion of tests, you will analyze the obtained results in detail, drawing meaningful conclusions to gain insights into the tribological performance. Subsequently, you will prepare comprehensive reports documenting the test procedures and findings, ensuring clarity and accuracy in conveying the results. Moreover, you will collaborate closely with the team, contributing to the development and optimization of test methods and parameters. Your input will be valuable in refining experimental procedures and enhancing the efficiency and reliability of testing protocols.

What you need is:

• You're enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's program in mechanical engineering, material science or similar for the entire internship period.
• You have a high level of interest in tribology.
• You possess experience with experimental testing methods.
• You bring team spirit, and a structured approach to work.
• You enjoy hands on work.
