What's the role?

With the next generation of structural connections, we want to improve the load paths of timber, concrete and hybrid structures. You will drive the next design decisions by combining structural simulations and parametric design. Thus, you will directly contribute to the connection development and help shaping our future connections.

Start date: from August 2024
Duration: at least 6 months.

Who is Hilti?

For more than a decade, Hilti has been recognized by Great Place to Work as one of the best places to work. Founded in 1941 by the Hilti brothers, we have over 120 locations globally carrying right into our lives and homes. Where people are exploring possibilities, leveraging their potential, owning their personal development and growing lasting careers.
We offer innovative solutions for the construction industry, emphasizing a passionate, inclusive team and a performance-driven culture. A substantial amount of our profit goes to the Hilti Foundation, promoting societal growth and sustainable impact.

What does the role involve?

Join an ambitious and international research team developing structural connections for sustainable constructions.

You will use structural analysis software (e.g. Dlubal RFEM) to analyse load paths and structural performance of building structures. Thereby, you will derive connection requirements and communicate those to our development team. You will use parametric design tools such as Python and Grasshopper to optimize the analysis workflows and optimize the building structure.

Loic, Intern:
“Choosing to join Hilti’s Corporate Research Department was an excellent decision. From day one, I was entrusted with tasks that aligned perfectly with my qualifications. Working independently, I had the chance to contribute to significant projects while also participating in larger initiatives. The dynamic work environment at Hilti fostered my growth in communication and critical-thinking skills, all without feeling overwhelmed by pressure or workload. Moreover, you’ll experience this in a diverse cultural setting—one of the most beautiful places in Europe—while being part of an active and fun intern community.”

What do we offer?

Joining our headquarters in Schaan, Nendeln, or Buchs connects you with a diverse community of over 2,100 colleagues from 70 nationalities in a region where Liechtenstein, Austria, and Switzerland intersect. Our employee groups actively support causes like female empowerment and the LGBTQAI+ community and offer leisure activities like mountain biking and tennis. We also provide opportunities for community engagement both locally and internationally. Benefits at our headquarters include shared e-bikes, an on-site gym, dining options, learning opportunities, and relocation support.

What you need is:

  • Enrollment in a Master's program in civil engineering, or similar for the entire internship duration.
  • Basic knowledge of hand calculation methods to review a building structure.
  • Experience in structural analysis software is an advantage.
  • Willingness to learn parametric tools such as Python, Grasshopper and Speckle.

Why should you apply?

You are someone who is interested in digital design and engineering. We want your enthusiasm to make the future of construction more sustainable.

Hilti is an equal opportunity employer.

We take our time to get to know you. As part of your recruitment process, you’ll get to talk to your internship coach as well as your HR Manager who both can answer some of your burning questions.
