Structural Specification Engineer - Nationwide

About the role

As a Specification Engineer you will provide technical expertise and consultation to consultants, specifiers, designers, and key contractor design teams, primarily during the design phase of projects.

Working across a national territory you will identify and propose the most appropriate engineering solutions by combining your technical knowledge with Hilti's range of products, software, and services. Through early engagement with project stakeholders, you will influence design decisions, develop specification opportunities, and support the delivery of safe, compliant, and productive construction solutions.

This role combines technical engineering expertise, relationship management, and specification development, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with industry professionals to influence project outcomes from the earliest stages of a project.

What You'll do

Develop a deep understanding of customer requirements, technical applications, and project challenges to identify specification opportunities and provide technical consultation during the design phase of projects.

Bring the value proposition of Hilti products, software, and services to customers, proposing technically compliant solutions, discussing feasibility, design considerations, and relevant standards, while driving technical solution adoption and specification growth.

Build relationships with consultants, specifiers, and contractor design teams through ongoing technical support, training, education, and networking activities, developing specification opportunities and influencing project outcomes.

Create and execute Account Development Plans aligned to identified customer needs while collaborating with internal stakeholders and sales teams to maximise specification potential and customer success.

What You’ll Bring

Degree qualified in Civil, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering.
Demonstrable experience in a structural design, design engineering, or engineering consultancy role, developing technical designs and engineering solutions.
Strong understanding of the construction industry, including design processes and the technical disciplines that influence project delivery.
Ability to assess technical challenges, develop practical solutions, and support customers through the design and specification process.
Excellent communication skills across all methods, including verbal, written, and stakeholder-facing technical discussions.
Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to effectively manage customer requirements, project demands, and specification opportunities across a national territory.
Ability to build credibility and develop effective working relationships with consultants, specifiers, designers, and contractor design teams.
Full UK manual driving licence with no more than 6 points
