SENIOR LEGAL COUNSEL

We are looking for a pragmatic and business-oriented Senior Legal Counsel to support our operations across Spain and Portugal.

Operating in a diverse B2B environment, you will advise on a broad range of commercial, contractual, project and compliance matters involving customers, suppliers, service providers and strategic partners across construction, engineering, energy, industrial, infrastructure and data center sectors.

Acting as a trusted business partner, you will work at the heart of Hilti's business, supporting both routine operations and complex strategic projects. You will advise on legal and compliance matters related to major customer projects, technical services, digital construction solutions, BIM projects and other strategic business initiatives. You will also contribute to regional and global legal initiatives and collaborate closely with legal colleagues across Europe.

What You'll do

Commercial Contracts & Legal Support

  • Draft, review and negotiate a wide range of B2B agreements, including customer, supplier and service contracts.
  • Develop and maintain terms and conditions, templates and legal playbooks.
  • Advise business teams on commercial, operational and contractual matters.

Tenders & Strategic Projects
  • Support public and private tenders, RFQs and RFPs.
  • Review tender documentation, contractual commitments and customer terms and conditions.
  • Support complex customer projects, framework agreements and strategic partnerships from bid stage through execution, including projects in the energy, industrial, infrastructure and data center sectors.
  • Advise business stakeholders on project-related contractual issues, claims management, warranty matters, notices, change orders and dispute prevention.

Disputes & Risk Management
  • Manage pre-litigation matters and commercial disputes.
  • Coordinate external counsel on litigation matters.
  • Identify, assess and mitigate legal risks.

Compliance
  • Support compliance activities relating to GDPR, competition law, business ethics, anti-harassment, trade compliance and export control requirements.
  • Promote awareness of legal and compliance requirements and support implementation of global and regional policies.

Training & Stakeholder Management
  • Deliver legal training and guidance to commercial and operational teams.
  • Collaborate with Legal Counsels across the region and globally to share knowledge, best practices and contracting expertise.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders and act as a trusted advisor.

Reporting
  • Provide regular reporting on key legal matters, risks and compliance topics.

What You’ll Bring

Education & Experience

  • Master's degree in Law.
  • Qualified lawyer with strong expertise in commercial law.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience gained in-house and/or in a law firm.
  • Experience in a B2B environment serving customers in construction, energy, industry, infrastructure, manufacturing, technical services or large projects.
  • Experience in reviewing and negotiating complex commercial agreements and project contracts is highly desirable.

Legal Expertise
  • Commercial and contract law.
  • Tendering and public procurement exposure is an advantage.
  • Dispute management.
  • GDPR, competition law and compliance fundamentals.
  • Experience in project contracting, contract negotiation and risk assessment.
  • Familiarity with large and complex customer projects, framework agreements and strategic partnerships.
  • Knowledge of trade compliance, export controls or construction-related legal matters would be an advantage.

  • Strong ability to prioritize and manage diverse topics simultaneously.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Autonomous, proactive and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to translate complex legal concepts into practical business guidance.
