Who is Hilti?

For the sixth time in the past 11 years, Hilti has been named one of the best employers by Great Place to Work.
What began as a family business in 1941, founded by brothers Eugene and Martin Hilti, has become a leading industry player with over 120 locations worldwide and a workforce of more than 33,000 colleagues. Our incredible journey, from humble beginnings to a global powerhouse, is a shining example of the rewards of a hard-working and dedicated team.
At Hilti, we provide leading-edge tools, technologies, software, and services for the global construction industry and beyond. Our purpose is making construction better based on a passionate and inclusive global team and a caring and performance-oriented culture.
We invest a substantial amount of our annual profit to the Hilti Foundation, which focuses on initiatives that empower people to live independently and autonomously, contribute to building stronger societies, and create networks of competent partners to achieve sustainable and scalable impact.

What does the role involve?

As intern in our department, you will be part of a small strategic team that executes strategic sourcing initiatives with our internal stakeholders and often with a direct link to the company strategy (e.g. sustainability, productivity, risk management, category management). You will work closely with our strategic supply managers to deliver on the assigned projects.

You will have the chance to follow closely the source-to-contract cycle and how we internally manage our demand and stakeholder to leverage the best outcome for Hilti. At the same time, close collaboration and performance management of our suppliers is key and we strive to establish key partnerships. Among others key suppliers are big players such as SAP, Microsoft, Salesforce, Workday, AWS.

The combination of internal stakeholder and external supplier performance management and negotiations will provide you with unique experience and understanding how to create value and manage projects independently.

We spend over one billion Swiss francs a year on indirect materials and services globally. Our team at headquarters consists of 18 professional procurement specialists from 7 nationalities together with many more colleagues in our regions.

Lilly, Intern: In the Indirect Procurement (IP) Department, I worked closely with the Global Category Managers, meaning that I could gain insights in various IP categories. I highly valued the variety of my tasks. From being involved in a sustainability initiative, improving my Excel skills doing a Sensitivity Analysis and Roadmap Planning, to research projects where I could improve my project management skills. On top of that, I really enjoyed my internship because of the great team spirit in the department!

What do we offer?

Joining more than 2100 colleagues from over 70 nationalities at one of our headquarters locations in Schaan, Nendeln, or Buchs is more than a career move. It’s your opportunity to enjoy the energizing, alpine lifestyle - where Liechtenstein, Austria, and Switzerland seamlessly meet.
Share your interests and become a part of one of our employee groups leading change locally, for example, supporting female empowerment or the LGBTQ+ community or joining a leisure group for a Wednesday mountain bike ride or tennis match. If you are passionate about giving back to the community, we have various opportunities to volunteer through our engaged beyond business program locally and internationally.
Additional benefits of our headquarters location include shared e-bikes for your commute, an on-site gym, three restaurants, language courses, learning and development training opportunities, tax insurance, financial guidance, child care, relocation and spousal support, and more.

  • Proficiency in Excel and Power Point is key
  • Effective communication skills, with excellent English and people skills

Why should you apply?

To succeed you need to be curious, willing to learn and have a flexible mindset. Conceptual brain work interests you as much as getting down and dirty in documents, spreadsheets, and slide decks. Show us your analytical and strategic thinking as well as hands-on project management and tough negotiation skills. You are adept at convincing others, leveraging your knowledge, and communicating precisely. It is not all there yet? We will train you.
