Head of Global Payroll (based in Manchester, Prague or Paris)

What's the role?

As the Head of Global Payroll, you are responsible for coordinating payroll operations across multiple countries and regions. This involves executing a global payroll strategy, ensuring compliance with international payroll regulations, supporting external payroll vendor management and optimizing payroll processes. The position requires strong leadership (both business and people), extensive knowledge of global payroll practice, and the ability to navigate complex payroll landscapes.

​This full-time position is available as of October 2025.
​The role can be based in Manchester, Paris, or Prague. Please state your preferred location in your application.

What does the role involve?

Your key responsibilities will be the following:

Strategic Leadership: Combine efforts for the development and implementation of a global payroll strategy aligned with business objectives; support the development and establishment of a global payroll operating model with global business service / shared services.

Vendor Management: Coordinate relationships with external payroll providers, ensuring seamless service delivery.

Compliance & Regulations : Ensure adherence to international payroll laws, tax regulations, and statutory requirements.

Stakeholder Collaboration: Work closely with HR, finance, legal, and IT teams to streamline payroll processes.

Project Management & Process Optimization: Drive efficiency, accuracy, and standardization in payroll operations across all regions.

Risk Management: Ensure payroll controls, audits, and compliance checks are effectively managed.

Technology & Innovation : Join forces on payroll system implementations, upgrades, and automation initiatives.

Employee Experience : Drive operational excellence to deliver consistent people experience.

Forecast management: Monitor and regulate the global payroll spend, ensuring efficiency in operations and the integration of new technology.

People Leadership: Accountability for talent management, people development and defining possible carrier path for payroll practitioners.

Since 2016, our global payroll team has successfully completed over 65 implementations including integrations, mitigating compliance risks, improving transparency and reducing duplication of effort.

What you need is:

  • Multiple years of proven experience in global payroll leadership roles, including vendor management and project management. Experience in setting up and running payroll for shared service centres is an advantage
  • Strong understanding of international payroll regulations and compliance.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and drive strategic initiatives.
  • Strategic thinking and the ability to coordinate
    and execute a global payroll strategy.
  • Languages: fluent English required, other languages are an advantage.
