Internship - Software Developer (Marketing and Sales IT)

What's the role?

Join the Marketing & Sales IT (FIM) team within Hilti Global IT, where you will build and enhance systems that support global sales, customer engagement, and marketing platforms.

In this role, you’ll be part of an international team delivering digital solutions that improve customer engagement and marketing effectiveness across global markets, while contributing directly to systems that drive commercial operations.
As a Software Engineer Intern, you will develop and maintain backend and platform-based solutions within a Scrum team, working across the software delivery lifecycle—implementing business logic, extending platform capabilities, and delivering reliable, well-tested functionality.

You will gain hands-on experience working with cloud environments (e.g., AWS) and enterprise platforms (e.g., Salesforce, SAP), contributing to scalable solutions in a distributed ecosystem. You will also work with AI-assisted development tools, including Kiro, applying spec-driven development to guide implementation and improve code quality.

What You'll do

Core Development Activities

• Design, develop, and enhance backend services and platform components
• Build and maintain APIs and event-driven services supporting business capabilities
• Implement scalable, modular systems using microservices and distributed architecture patterns
• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following engineering and security best practices
• Participate in code reviews, pair programming, and technical design discussions
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and deployment workflows
• Support troubleshooting, performance tuning, and system reliability improvements
• Explore and apply modern development approaches, including:
• AI-assisted coding tools
• Use of Kiro, an agentic development environment leveraging spec-driven development to guide code generation and validation
• Applying these capabilities to improve code quality and accelerate delivery

• Event-driven architectures (messaging, asynchronous processing, pub/sub patterns)
• Cloud platforms (e.g., AWS)
• Enterprise platforms (e.g., Salesforce, SAP)

• Monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Datadog, cloud-native monitoring solutions)
• Agile methodology (Scrum, iterative delivery)
