Channel Sales Graduate Programme - Hilti Store

What's the role?

You will initially be working on the ground in a Hilti Store Representative role for 18-24 months, learning the commercial aspects of our business, before progressing on to a pathway role in field-based Account Management positions.

You will operate the Hilti Store in Edinburgh, maximising sales opportunities and being responsible for careful stock control. You will work closely with the field-based sales team, our tool repair workshops and our Customer and Credit Services teams in order to provide our customers with outstanding service and deliver great results.

Who is Hilti?

Hilti is where innovation is improving productivity, safety and sustainability in the global construction industry, and beyond. Where strong customer relationships are creating solutions that build a better future. Where there is pride and a sense of belonging across our 120 locations, carrying right into our lives and homes. Where people are exploring possibilities, leveraging their potential, owning their personal development and growing lasting careers. Hilti is very proud to be ranked as the UK's 19th best super large organisation to work for in the Great Place to Work survey.

What does the role involve?

The Channel Sales Graduate Programme – Hilti Store is a 18-24 months scheme, where you’ll quickly be involved in the day to day running of our business, whilst at the same time gaining exposure to account management. It will be fast paced and testing but it’s designed for you to best understand how the business works, before moving into an Account Manager role.

In your initial position as a Hilti Store Representative, you will be running the store on a day-to-day basis, where you will be tasked with:

  • Individual customer service and consultation, including hands-on demonstrations of all the products and services within our range
  • Implementing marketing campaigns with support from the marketing and branding teams
  • Execution and coordination of all processes, e.g. order entry, incoming goods, acceptance of repairs, inventory and cash management
  • Developing existing customer relationships by ensuring you are in regular contact with them by phone
  • Establishing new relationships, using your excellent social and customer service skills
  • Unusually within retail, the store is only open Monday to Friday, allowing you the chance to develop further in your retail career without the need to work weekends.

We are proud to have a long-term bonding with our employees: More than 30% of our employees have been part of the Hilti family for over a decade.

What do we offer?

  • Employee resource groups focused on gender, mental health, race, disability, LGBTQ+ and sustainability topics
  • Trips to locations such as Milan, New York and global HQ for high performers across all teams

What you need is:

  • You’ve recently graduated (within the last 2 years), or you’re preparing to graduate in 2024 with a bachelors or masters degree
  • Previous retail or customer service experience is preferred
  • You’re curious and committed, a flexible team player with good communication and social skills
  • You love to challenge yourself and willing to step out of your comfort zone
  • You’re confident in managing challenge and are assertive in pushing back within a sales environment
  • You’re excited about the prospect of rolling up your sleeves and being hands on with Hilti’s latest product innovations
  • You have a strong interest in working within a commercial environment with a focus on sales
  • Full, valid UK or EU manual driving license is required
Please note that due to the minimum salary thresholds we are unable to offer skilled visa sponsorship for any in our channel roles.

Who should apply?

We have an excellent mix of people and some of our best account managers joined us with no experience. So, if you’ve never worked in sales or construction, that’s fine with us. Success at Hilti is down to teamwork and ability, no matter what your background.

Click through the 'Apply Now' button where you will be asked to upload your CV and answer a couple of short questions – the whole process should take around 90 seconds.

If we don't have a suitable role for you at the moment, we will keep you in our talent pool for the future so your recruitment process might take a bit longer, but we'll be sure to stay in touch.

Hilti is where your best belongs. We are an equal opportunity employer and value the contributions of all our team members regardless of sex, gender identity/expression, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation, disability, age, religion, or family status.
