Material Handler

What's the role?

The role of Material Handler is responsible to provide superior sales support and customer service by working with the Value-Added Services Center Team throughout the materials value stream activities required to execute order fulfillment. Duties include but are not limited to put-away, picking, packing, sub-assembly, assembly, kitting, quality inspection, participation in Hilti Lean methodologies, peer mentoring & training new team members and following environmental health and safety guidelines.

What does the role involve?

  • Contribute to team goals by accomplishing tasks while meeting key performance targets
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by keeping pallet areas, racks, shelves and workstations neat and orderly.
  • Prepare paperwork for related shipments including but not limited to Packing Slips, Bills of Lading and Hazmat Declarations.
  • Maintain inventory control by utilizing appropriate equipment, performing cycle counts and performing reconciliation of counts
  • Maintain quality service by following organizational standards
  • Maintain a clean and safe environment
  • Interact with all levels of the organization, as needed
  • Follow standard processes to build and produce standard and custom products to defined specifications in production paperwork and project documentation
  • Perform product modifications and product packaging to PBL (Project Business Logistics) specifications
  • Material handling tasks associated with working in a production-type environment
  • Package and stage completed product for shipment
  • Keep work area, tools, and equipment organized and in working order
  • Actively engage and contribute to department continuous improvement activities
  • Additional duties as assigned
  • Prepares work to be accomplished by studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists; gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
  • Positions parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements.
  • Assembles components by examining connections for correct fit; fastening parts and subassemblies.
  • Verifies specifications by measuring completed component.
  • Resolves assembly problems by altering dimensions to meet specifications; notifying supervisor to obtain additional resources.
  • Keeps equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Maintains supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
  • Conserves resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Documents actions by completing production and quality forms.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

What you need is:

  • High School diploma or GED, required
  • Minimum four (4) years’ of experience in a warehousing or manufacturing environment, preferred
  • Direct or Indirect Leadership experience, preferred
  • Personal Computing literate, moderate proficiency in Microsoft Office Application Suite including but not limited to MS Excel, MS Word and MS Outlook, preferred
  • Detail oriented, thorough, accurate, organized, productive with the ability to seek and understand cause/effect of a given situation.
  • Exceptional math skills involving decimals and fractions
  • Power equipment skills (forklift, pallet jack)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment and maintain self- responsibility
  • Ability to stay committed, maintain integrity and practice innovation
  • Dependability a must
  • Capable of prioritizing project pick/pack/ship
  • Flexibility in work schedule required
  • Willingness to travel to support HNA distribution network, preferred
