Senior Platform Technical Product Owner

Drive Platform Strategy and Technical Excellence

We are looking for a Senior Platform Technical Product Owner to join our organization. This is a high-visibility, business-critical role responsible for shaping and delivering the platform capabilities that power multiple software applications and teams across the business.

The ideal candidate combines strong technical depth with product ownership discipline, someone who can converse fluently with engineers about architecture and trade-offs, while also owning the tactical roadmap, backlog, and stakeholder relationships that make a platform successful.

You will work across multiple software applications and engineering teams, acting as the connectivity between business needs, architecture, and execution. You will be a key partner to the Head of Software Platform in defining platform strategy and ensuring the platform serves as a genuine enabler for the rest of the organization.

What You'll do

Product Ownership & Strategy

  • Co-own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for the Software Platform, aligning it with broader business unit and company objectives.
  • Translate business goals into a clear, prioritized backlog of epics, features, and technical initiatives.
  • Define and track success metrics for platform capabilities, and report on value delivered to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Balance short-term delivery needs against long-term platform health, technical debt, and scalability.

Technical Depth & Cross-Application Coordination
  • Develop a working technical understanding of the platform's architecture, APIs, data flows, and integration points across multiple applications.
  • Partner directly with engineering, architecture, and DevOps teams to evaluate technical trade-offs, feasibility, and sequencing of work.
  • Coordinate dependencies and priorities across multiple software applications and teams that consume or contribute to the platform.
  • Participate in technical design discussions and provide product input on architecture decisions, APIs, and system integrations.
  • Understand and help manage platform-level concerns: scalability, reliability, security, observability, and performance.

Backlog & Delivery Management
  • Own and refine the product backlog. Write clear, well-structured business specifications, acceptance criteria, and technical requirements.
  • Work closely with Delivery Leads to plan sprints, releases, and roadmaps.
  • Make day-to-day prioritization decisions and trade-off calls in collaboration with engineering leads.
  • Identify and manage risks, blockers, and dependencies across teams.

Stakeholder Management & Communication
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between engineering teams and business stakeholders (business units, leadership, and other product owners).
  • Gather, synthesize, and prioritize requirements from multiple internal stakeholders with competing needs.
  • Communicate roadmap, progress, and trade-offs clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Represent the Platform in cross-functional forums, steering committees, and planning sessions.

AI-Enabled Product & Engineering Practices
  • Champion spec-driven development practices, ensuring requirements and acceptance criteria are structured clearly enough to be consumed by both engineers and AI coding/agentic tools.
  • Evaluate and help introduce AI-assisted engineering workflows (e.g., AI coding assistants, agentic development tools) into the platform's delivery process, in partnership with engineering leads.
  • Identify opportunities to apply AI/ML capabilities within the platform itself (e.g., business-critical features, automation, intelligent tooling, developer productivity features) and incorporate them into the roadmap where they add clear value.
  • Stay current on AI engineering trends and tooling and help the team assess build-vs-buy and adoption decisions for AI-related platform capabilities.
Leadership & Mentorship
  • Act as a senior voice within the Technology and Product organization, mentoring junior product owners as needed.
  • Champion product and agile best practices across the platform teams.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of how the Software Platform team operates.

What You’ll Bring

  • This position is not eligible for employer-sponsored work authorization or visa sponsorship (including initial, transfer, or extension), and candidates must be authorized to work in the United States at the time of application and remain authorized for the duration of employment without the need for sponsorship.

Required Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in product management/product ownership roles, with significant experience in technical or platform products (not purely customer-facing feature teams).
  • Demonstrated experience owning products that span multiple applications, services, or systems. You understand integration complexity, not just single-app feature delivery.
  • Strong technical fluency. Comfortable reading architecture diagrams, understanding APIs/microservices, discussing data models, and engaging credibly with engineers on technical trade-offs. (Does not need to be a hands-on coder, but must have real technical grounding.)
  • Proven experience working in Agile/Scrum environments as a Product Owner (certification a plus: CSPO, SAFe POPM, or equivalent).
  • Strong experience managing and prioritizing a backlog with competing stakeholder demands, at senior/enterprise scale.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, able to translate between engineering and business language fluidly.
  • Experience defining and tracking product/platform KPIs and communicating outcomes to leadership.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with platform engineering concepts: internal developer platforms, shared services, API gateways, CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure (AWS/Azure/GCP).
  • Familiarity with enterprise integration patterns (event-driven architecture, message queues, REST/GraphQL APIs, MCP).
  • Experience in a role that required coordinating across 3+ engineering teams or business units simultaneously.
  • Background in a regulated, complex, or large-scale enterprise environment.
  • Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence and Miro.
  • Experience working with or adopting AI engineering practices, such as AI coding assistants (e.g., Kiro, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot), agentic development workflows, or spec-driven/AI-assisted delivery processes.
  • Understanding of how AI/ML capabilities can be applied within a software platform (e.g., intelligent automation, developer tooling, copilots for internal teams), and how to evaluate their product value.
  • Familiarity with prompt engineering, LLM-based tooling, or MCP (Model Context Protocol)–style integrations is a plus, even if not hands-on.
  • Prior hands-on technical experience (developer, QA engineer, DevOps, or solutions architect background) is a strong plus.
