Design Engineer

Making Construction Better

In this role you will derive bill of materials from design work for the wider Hilti team, design modular support solutions and provide basic engineering of anchor and direct fastening solutions using the Hilti proprietary software suite “PROFIS MSE”. Furthermore, you will be responsible for preparing engineering reports for designed applications, while collaborating with different departments within Hilti such as marketing, sales and logistics and basic value engineering (combining technical – commercial – logistics aspects) for defined applications.
Finally, as a Design Engineer, you will work as part of our Engineering Competence Centre (ECC), you will ensure the adherence to relevant codes and Hilti standards in project engineering and ensure the safe and Hilti rules compliant engineering of defined applications. This is a busy role inclusive of technical expertise, design and high level of communication skills and customer centric skills.

What You'll do

In your role as a Design Engineer, you will engineer and design applications up to medium complexity based on Hilti modular support systems within Hilti’s Installation System Business Unit portfolio. These applications will be based on Hilti’s proprietary software suite “PROFIS MSE (Modular Support Engineering)" and designed under guidance of the lead engineer and team leader. You will additionally provide a basic engineering of anchor or direct fastening solutions and bill of materials to other Hilti functions (e.g. supply chain) for further processing.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Civil, Structural or Mechanical Engineering
  • 2-3 years of design experience and some sales experience would be an advantage
  • English language fluency (written and spoken)
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience in reading and interpreting multi-disciplinary engineering drawings and project documentation
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, and implementation skills to solve engineering problems
  • Proficiency in AutoCad, Microsoft Excel
  • Dynamic personality with strong winning and high-performance mindset
  • React quickly to a changing environment with the ability to work under pressure
  • Excellent communication and relationship building and management skills across all levels
  • High learning agility and openness to learning new technologies and methodologies
