Lead Structural Design Engineer (MEP)

We are looking for a high-caliber candidate with passion for technical solutions combined with business acumen in engineering.

As a Lead Engineer, you will work in the Hilti Regional Project Management Office (PMO) and direct your efforts to drive technical customer engagement through value engineered solutions based on Hilti modular support systems. You will join Hilti global project business community of highly motivated and passionate professionals, working with them to deliver Hilti Integrated Project Solutions (IPS).

What You'll do

  • Provide structural design for MEP systems, including modular support system, equipment supports, pipe racks, components of wind turbine towers, access platform, etc.
  • Conduct schematic design, detailed structural calculation, construction drawing production and technical clarification.
  • Coordinate with HVAC, electrical and plumbing disciplines closely, and liaise with customer teams to resolve technical issues during design, production and installation.
  • Prepare design deliverables including design specifications, drawings, calculation reports, material take-offs and technical documents.
  • Participate in technical reviews, drawing inspections and design optimization to improve structural value engineering.
  • Being central part of the project execution team as a Lead Engineer, planning technical execution resources with engineering manager, supervising execution and leading technical topics.
  • Act as quality gate keeper, when applicable, providing input to designers and modelers and performing QA/QC activities where relevant.
  • Work closely with domestic and international Hilti project teams to understand customers’ requirements on deliverables, assess availability of required information, perform project scoping (Framework), support capture teams on service contracting.
  • Travel domestically and internationally, visit and collaborate with customers on-site during design, production and construction phases, as required.
  • Develop project-specific best practice documentation to contribute to increasing PMO know-how.

What You’ll Bring

  • Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering from renowned universities.
  • At least 3 years of experience as a civil/mechanical engineer in the national or international owners, EPCs of specifiers.
  • Good understanding of structural engineering, digital design & modular construction process with solid project experiences.
  • Proficient in steel structure design principles. Familiarity with at least one common structural software such as PKPM, MIDAS, ANSYS, STAAD.Pro, Tekla, RSTAB, etc. is required.
  • Registered Structural Engineer or equivalent international professional engineering license is preferred.
  • Understanding the correlation between technical and commercial aspects of engineering work.
  • Strong communication & writing skills in English.
  • Empathy and ability to work in a multicultural environment.
