Head of Quality

What's the role?

This role is responsible for ensuring the quality of products, services and documentation associated with Project Acquisition & Execution in accordance with customer requirements with internal and external regulations.

What does the role involve?

  • Responsibility for the quality of the acquisition and execution of customer projects.
  • End-to-end management of project quality to ensure feasibility of meeting all quality requirements.
  • Strategic involvement in large projects business and leading specific projects from a quality perspective (specials, product qualification programs, approved vendor list) together with corporate, global and regional stakeholders.
  • Act as the liaison for project quality topics between customers, project execution team, suppliers and service providers as well as other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead the handling of internal quality related issues and customer complaints.
  • Moderate quality risk management in projects, qualification of new products and changes as well as the creation of early warning systems.
  • Coordinate the quality activities related to design, engineering, as well as manufacturing (including value added services), by working with subject matter experts.
  • Responsible for and driving quality improvement in projects through cross-functional initiatives, process responsibility, including validation through e.g. audits and analysis of customer data.
  • Ensure knowledge and experience sharing within the organization based on the learnings from projects.
  • Ensures compliance with quality standards & requirements on a regional level across market organization.
  • Drives prevention of quality-related risks through risk assessment.
  • Drives reduction of CoNQ (Cost of Non-Quality) through prevention of complaints.
  • Persistency to achieve expected quality objectives on time and on budget.
  • Understanding customer quality requirements and their impact on business results.
  • Building and nurturing relationships at all levels and across functions to help influence results.
  • Communicating effectively one-to-one, within and across teams, taking the audience into account and adapting the style accordingly.

What you need is:

  • Engineering degree, required
  • Civil/Structural engineering degree, preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in structural analysis, FEA (Finite Element Analysis) & simulation software, required
  • Working knowledge of relevant quality and industry standards and regulations
  • Working knowledge of quality processes and tools
  • Working knowledge of international and industry specific standards and regulations (e.g. ISO 9001 etc.)
  • Working knowledge of 3D CAD software and modelling system (Revit etc.)
  • Internal / process auditor license, preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in engineering, product development or related technical field
  • Advanced knowledge of quality processes and tools
  • Advanced knowledge of relevant quality and industry standards and regulations
  • Lead auditor license, preferred

Working Conditions:
  • Working conditions include normal office environment as well as occasional travel to field and jobsites.
  • Occasional domestic travel, required.
Adverse Working Conditions:
  • Job requires walking on construction sites and uneven surfaces, as well as climbing scaffolding, ladders, and stairs during all seasons of the year
  • Depending on geography employees may be exposed to adverse heat or cold
  • Construction jobsites may also expose specialists to excessively loud noises; ear protection is strongly encouraged and may be required on some jobsites
Safety Equipment Required:
  • Hardhat, safety vest, safety glasses, gloves, steel toe boots, and long pants required for working jobsites; must observe and abide by any and all safety regulations as required by Hilti, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and General Contractors
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to walk on construction projects, climb scaffolding, and lift and carry up to 65 pounds of Hilti product
