Regional Legal Counsel / META

Empowering Business Through Trusted Legal Guidance

The role provides regional legal and compliance support across the META region, acting as a trusted business partner to regional and country management and supporting multiple legal entities.

You will be reporting to Head of Legal & Compliance, META.

What You'll do

General Legal Support:

  • Provide legal advice across the META region on corporate, commercial and regulatory matters, including customer, suppliers, service providers and project contracts.
  • Act as a regional legal business partner to management and sales, supporting commercial negotiations, strategic initiatives and key projects.
  • Provide legal risk assessment and pragmatic, business-focused advice across regional operations, including assisting in handling customer complaints and product recalls.
  • Advise on employment law, data protection, product liability and other general legal matters at regional level, coordinating with external counsel where required.
  • Provide regional oversight on corporate governance for META legal entities, including key corporate actions and engagement with external counsel.
  • Coordinate and support regional banking, financing and treasury-related legal matters.
  • Steer regional commercial contracting frameworks to ensure consistent application of Group standards across customer and supplier arrangements.

Compliance Supporting:
  • Provide regional legal and compliance advice in line with Hilti Group requirements, with focus on anti-corruption, antitrust, fraud prevention, conflicts of interest, AML, export/sanctions compliance, data protection, human rights and product regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate implementation of compliance policies, controls and initiatives across countries
  • Promote a strong culture of integrity and compliance through guidance, training and management support.

Litigation Risk & External Counsel Management
  • Supervise court, tribunal and mediation proceedings.
  • Manage and escalate material legal and compliance risks at regional level
  • Select, instruct and manage external counsel across jurisdictions, including cost and quality oversight.

Co-ordination / Liaison:
  • Interface between Regional Legal & Compliance Team and Corporate Legal & Compliance Team
  • Support rollout of global contract concepts (sales, service, software and sourcing) and localization of contracts according to local law requirements, and also global / regional legal initiatives.
  • Coordinate closely with regional stakeholders to ensure legally sound and commercially pragmatic execution of regional initiatives and act as escalation point for complex or high-risk matters.

Corporate Housekeeping / Legal Training:
  • Oversee corporate housekeeping for META legal entities and conduct training for management and business teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement of regional legal processes, templates and controls, including contract lifecycle management and knowledge sharing across countries.

What You’ll Bring

  • Fully qualified lawyer with at least 10 years of relevant work experience in an international law firm and/or legal department of a multinational company.
  • An advanced degree such as an LL.M. or MBA is required.
  • Proven experience in a regional or multi-country legal role.
  • Strong expertise in corporate governance, commercial contracting and banking / financing matters.
  • Relevant experience in a related industry sector (construction / oil & gas industry) is advantageous.
  • Entrepreneurial and target-oriented way of thinking; team player with self-dependent working-style, takes a principal stand and does the right thing even if one encounters resistance.
  • Excellent in spoken and written English and Turkish and strong communication skills and capable in communicating across different functions/departments.
  • Ability to manage different stakeholders and multiple tasks and deadline under pressure.
  • Well-versed in IT software & technology like MS Office, etc.
  • Curious in understanding business, high learning agility and a vision to help institutionalize the legal & compliance function.
