Who does what with my data?
In the context of your application or if you signed up to the Hilti Talent Community, Hilti is the data controller as it manages its hiring process notably through these platforms.
Hilti will process your personal data for the following purposes:
-
To conduct and manage our hiring process overall (recording, sorting applications and supporting documents), to evaluate your application and assess your suitability for the position (including measuring your professional aptitudes and skills), and to contact you to carry out the various steps of our hiring process (like real-time or recorded video, phone or in-person interviews, etc.).
-
To match you with other positions available in Hilti Group for which your application could be a good fit, either because the position is similar to the one you applied for or because your application is deemed relevant and adequate for that position.
-
To invite you, where relevant, to our Hilti Talent Community. In such case you will receive a dedicated invite containing the necessary information and applicable privacy notice.
-
To manage your profile on the Hilti Talent Community platform and to manage the career opportunities proposed to you or for which Hilti is actively considering you.
-
To send you communications and to invite you to events related to Life at Hilti (insights into the company culture, ways of operating, and career management activities).
-
To enrich your profile based on public sources (e.g., LinkedIn), where applicable.
-
To ask, where relevant, for the documents required for the establishment of an employment contract.
The above processing purposes are legally based on either:
-
the necessity for Hilti to perform certain steps prior to potentially entering into a contract with you;
-
your consent, which you can withdraw at any time by logging into your self-service Candidate Profile (the lawfulness of any processing conducted before the withdrawal won’t be affected); or
-
Hilti’s legitimate interest to fill open positions and provide career opportunities to eligible candidates.
How long is my data processed for?
For data processed in the Hilti Talent Community, Hilti will keep your data for a maximum of 24 months or until you withdraw your consent — whichever is earlier. You can withdraw your consent at any time by clicking on the link you received in the confirmation emails about the Hilti Talent Community.
For other data, you can always withdraw your application, correct, or delete your data in your self-service Candidate Profile. Otherwise, as a rule, Hilti will anonymize your application data according to the retention rules applicable to the local entity.
Video interview data will be erased in accordance with the same retention rules that apply to your application data.
Lastly, you can always log into your self-service Candidate Profile and request the deletion of your entire applicant profile. In such case, Hilti will anonymize it within thirty (30) days and any ongoing applications will be anonymized and not further considered.
What data does Hilti process and where did Hilti get it?
Hilti will process (if available) data related to:
-
your identity (e.g., your full name and salutation, and photo);
-
your contact information (e.g., your email address and phone number);
-
your work experience, education, career preferences, and application history with Hilti (such as described in your CV, cover letter or other documents, or during interviews);
-
your personal preferences (e.g., language);
-
administrative data (e.g., whether you have a driving license or are authorized to work in the country you are interested in); and
-
any other relevant information you may provide as part of the process.
Any data that must be provided to process your application is indicated accordingly on the form. Failure to provide such data may result in Hilti’s inability to process your application.
Your data could have been provided to Hilti by the following sources:
-
You provided the above-mentioned data to Hilti in the context of applying for a position, either through an unsuccessful application or when signing up to the Hilti Talent Community.

Your relevant data was transferred from the Hilti Talent Community (if you are already part of it) to Hilti’s hiring process in the context of proposing suitable positions to you.
-
Your data was provided by a recruiting agency that applied on your behalf. In such case, it is the recruiting agency’s obligation to inform you, and we will share with them the status of your application.
-
Your data was collected from publicly available sources where you published such data — such as social networks (e.g., LinkedIn, Xing), job boards, and CV databases (e.g., Indeed, Monster, ZipRecruiter, Stepstone).
Does Hilti share my data with third parties?
No, your data will not be shared or disclosed outside of Hilti Group. Only Hilti employees from the Human Resources function have access to our hiring and talent management platforms. Some of your data may be shared internally on an individual basis with other employees, as necessary.
However, Hilti is a global group. Persons who have access to our hiring and talent management platforms may be located in other countries (including outside the EU/EEA) and belong to different Hilti Group affiliates. If we match your application with suitable positions in other countries (including outside the EU/EEA), we may share your data with the relevant employees.
Our employees or external third-party service providers involved in managing and maintaining these platforms may also process your personal data in certain circumstances. Hilti ensures appropriate legal, technical, and organizational measures are in place so that processing occurs only as needed to perform specific tasks on our behalf and under our instructions. Our providers’ infrastructures may be located in a different country than yours.
These transfers are covered, as applicable, by adequacy decisions, standard contractual clauses, or Hilti’s Binding Corporate Rules (to which a list of all Hilti entities is annexed).
