Development Engineer Tools

What's the role?

As part of a multi-disciplinary development team, you are the leading force behind one or more subassemblies of a direct fastening tool. Here you will develop innovative ideas and drive their optimization until series-production readiness and you will contribute to further differentiate our tools from competition.

Who is Hilti?

For the sixth time in 11 years, Hilti has been recognized by Great Place to Work as a top employer. Founded in 1941 by the Hilti brothers, we have over 120 locations globally with 33,000 team members. We offer innovative solutions for the construction industry, emphasizing a passionate, inclusive team and a performance-driven culture. A substantial amount of our profit goes to the Hilti Foundation, promoting societal growth and sustainable impact.

What does the role involve?

You will be working in a cross-functional team of development engineers, production specialist, purchasers and marketing peers. After thoroughly capturing the customer requirements and consulting experienced development colleagues, you will design novel concepts and confirm the value proposition of your solution at first hand. In addition, you optimize your subassembly in terms of functionality, manufacturability, robustness and costs in collaboration with simulation, production and testing experts.

Beyond project-related activities you have the opportunity to self-responsibly drive novel, promising ideas supported by students, renowned universities, or external engineering companies.

You’ll work with some of the industry’s most trusted and innovative engineering products.

What do we offer?

Joining our headquarters in Schaan, Nendeln, or Buchs connects you with a diverse community of over 2,100 colleagues from 70 nationalities in a region where Liechtenstein, Austria, and Switzerland intersect. Our employee groups actively support causes like female empowerment and the LGBTQ+ community and offer leisure activities like mountain biking and tennis. We also provide opportunities for community engagement both locally and internationally. Benefits at our headquarters include shared e-bikes, an on-site gym, dining options, learning opportunities, financial guidance, child care, and relocation support.

What you need is:

  • Master/PhD or Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Mechatronics or similar fields
  • A proven track record in product development
  • A proactive working style, a getting-things-done approach and target oriented mindset with a high learning agility
  • You are a collaborative team player and a self-confident personality, standing your ground in team and management discussions
  • Passion to develop innovative solutions, a hands-on mentality and the ability to promote your work with a good and efficient stakeholder management
  • Strong communication skills in English (proficiency in German will be an asset)

Why should you apply?

You are someone who wants to influence your own development. You’re looking for a company where you have the opportunity to pursue your interests across functions and geographies, where a job title is not considered a final destination but the starting point.
