What does the role involve?
As a Lead Engineer, you will be part of the Project Management Office (PMO) and direct your efforts towards implementing the Hilti strategy by providing highly differentiated solutions to our Top Accounts. You will join a global community of highly motivated and passionate professionals, working with leading Italian and international players, such as owners, EPC’s, specifiers. This role has focus on Shipbuilding industry, but will also allow you to integrate multidisciplinary teams across a variety of other industries, from Oil and Gas to Commercial Construction, to name a few.
•Being part of the project execution team as technical lead
•Work closely with capture teams to understand clients’ needs on key applications and consult on Hilti or Oglaend Systems modular support system and firestop solutions.
•Engineer and design key applications based on customer’s requirements, providing optimal solutions fulfilling technical, economic, and logistic constrains.
•Ensure the adherence to relevant codes and Hilti standards in project engineering
•Visit and collaborate with clients on-site or in the construction yard during design and/or construction phases, as required.
•Develop project-specific best practice documentation to contribute to increasing PMO know-how.
•Prepare engineering reports (calculation notes) for designed applications.
•Compile bill of materials to support project bids and fulfilment, in coordination with other colleagues at Hilti (e.g.order management, logistics)
•Strive for expertise in Shipbuilding and maritime applications, including coordinating and leading other technical engineers as required
•Act as lead designer, providing inputs to modelers and drafters and performing QA/QC activities where relevant

The salary range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skills sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate is for this particular job posting. Please be advised that a different location may result in a different range. At Hilti, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $87,000-100,000 with bonus at target of $19,000.
What you need is:
- Degree in Civil or Mechanical Engineering;
- At least 2 years of experience as a civil/mechanical engineer; 5 years of site/yard relevant experience is considered a plus.
- Strong communication skills English
- Understanding the correlation between technical and commercial aspects of engineering work;
- Empathy and ability to work in multicultural environment;
- Good understanding of structural model building:
- 3D Modelling experience, including navigation of engineering models in Autodesk Navisworks (experience modelling in Autodesk Inventor, Autodesk Revit, AvevaE3D, Cadmaticor Hexagon Smart3D is considered a plus)
- Know how in usage of structural engineering software (R-Stab, SAP2000 or FEM software is a plus;

Working Conditions:
- Walking construction projects according to the jobsite safety regulations.
- Climbing ladders and scaffolding in order to perform effective jobsite demonstrations.
- Occasionally lifting up 65 pounds of Hilti product to store / transport.
