What's the role?
Additive Manufacturing is an emerging technology within the industrial manufacturing environment. Especially the shortening of lead times in prototyping as well as maintenance work shows the immense potential of the Additive Manufacturing of different metal and polymeric materials. Until today, this manufacturing technology is not yet fully integrated, and the application boundaries of such parts are not completely understood.
Your role in this project is to design feasible Additive Manufactured parts for metal forming tools, support their manufacturing process and analyze the (mechanical) performance of the finished tooling part.
Start date is flexible to your availability (ideally from Feb/Mar 2023), for a minimum of 6 months.

What does the role involve?
As intern in our Unit, you’ll be part of the metal forming tool development of innovative fastening elements, as part of our Engineering Team. After having a proper introduction and training phase, you will take over responsibilities in our development projects or a complete sub-project by yourself.
You will work closely with our experts to design and develop the Additive Manufactured tool parts including try-out of new materials. The role involves an interdisciplinary and interdepartmental exchange, what requires excellent communication skills to drive the project.

What you need is:
- Master’s student in mechanical engineering / material science (or comparable discipline)
- Interested in Additive Manufacturing, combined with first experience in 3D CAD design
- Passion for innovation and technology development
- Enthusiasm to learn and thriving for succeed
- Excellent communication skills, and fluent in English and German
