At Hilti, careers are made real by empowering you to explore the possibilities, maximize your potential, own your development, and create meaningful impact every day.

What does the role involve?

The Martin Hilti Foundation Fellowship Program is designed for early-career professionals looking to gain international experience early in their careers. As a Fellow, you will be matched with a department that aligns with your strengths and career interests, allowing you to contribute meaningfully from day one. This immersive program combines professional development, cultural exchange, and mentorship to help you grow both personally and professionally in a global corporate environment.

The Fellowship also involves:

  • 1–2 months of language training in Cologne, Germany (duration depends on the participant’s initial fluency level), designed to enhance your German language skills and deepen your understanding of the country’s culture.
  • 12-month paid fellowship in Schaan, Liechtenstein, offering valuable international work experience in a professional environment.
  • A dedicated mentor will be matched to you through our mentorship program; your mentor will support your professional development and help guide your career goals.
  • Monthly compensation includes standard health insurance coverage, which is deducted from your monthly stipend.
  • Housing in Schaan is provided, but rent is covered by the Fellow.
  • Hilti covers your flight to Cologne and onward travel to Schaan, as well as all visa arrangements. Room and board will be covered in Cologne and Fellows will receive a monthly stipend to help with living costs.
While a full-time position in the Fellow’s home country following the program cannot be guaranteed, it is one of Hilti’s goals to support Fellows in finding a suitable opportunity within the company. If both the Fellow and Hilti express mutual interest, reasonable efforts will be made to explore potential matches.

Why should you apply?

Here is what our previous fellows have to say:

Reid P.: The Martin Hilti Foundation Fellowship was an amazing experience that I am extremely grateful to have completed. I worked on a fast-paced, international team and was able to improve my German while gaining valuable insights into corporate life at Hilti. Living and working in Schaan, Liechtenstein provided a culturally enriching experience that broadened my perspective both professionally and personally. After learning about the company’s history and strategic direction, this position served as the perfect stepping stone into a sales role with Hilti North America. I highly recommend this program to any German-speaking American looking to gain meaningful corporate experience abroad!

Sebastiaan D.: “The Martin Hilti Foundation Fellowship gave me the unique opportunity to work in the Events Team, where I managed my own projects, supported high-impact productions, and collaborated with colleagues across the entire organization. Over the course of the year, I not only developed practical skills but also built strong relationships with people from all areas of the business. The experience gave me valuable exposure to cross-functional collaboration and process coordination — skills that now support me in my new role as Business Analyst in Large Projects Engineering in Berkel en Rodenrijs."

Sofie S.: " The Martin Hilti Foundation Fellowship has been an incredible opportunity that allowed me to live abroad and immerse myself in a truly international work environment. During my time with the Talent Acquisition team, I experienced significant personal and professional growth. I was encouraged to ask questions, explore the organization, and connect with colleagues from around the world. I was entrusted with meaningful tasks and projects that had a real impact on the organization. This experience has equipped me with valuable skills and insights that I now bring to my new role as a Training Coordinator on the Learning and Development team at HQ."
