What's the role?

In this dynamic role the Research Assistant will work closely with the US Product Care team pushing the limits of mechanical anchor development, involving local as well as global experts within this field. The task is to actively participate in the development and testing of prototypes for novel methods and products. Existing concepts need to be evaluated and refined, followed by a proof-of-concept under laboratory and job-site conditions. This is an interdisciplinary technology task with focus on hands-on mentality and the spirit to think outside the box.

As key responsibilities the Research Assistant will significantly contribute to develop, test and optimize concepts for both, existing and new products. This might include all phases from design to final validation. Candidates will use their hands-on mentality to bring visions to life including interdisciplinary engineering activities, e.g. ideation for solutions, mechanical design, laboratory work, data processing and analysis, performance optimization, enhancing usability, etc.

In addition to working on major development projects the Research Assistant will support the Product Care team on a variety of smaller efforts (customer complaints, production requests, COGs initiatives, etc.). This additional effort will not only help projects be accomplished faster but also expose the Research Assistant to a variety of engineering and production topics within the construction industry. This effort will be invaluable work experience for the future.

What you need is:

Required

  • 3 rd or 4 th year in engineering (BSc in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent)
  • Familiarized with CAD Drafting and Modelling (Solidworks, NX, Catia, etc.)
  • Experienced in using MS Office (Power Point, Excel)
  • Passion for innovation and product development
  • A proactive approach and self-reliant personality
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with excellent English skills
  • Preferred
  • Final year of MSc education
  • 2 years of CAD Drafting Experience (SolidWorks, NX, Catia, etc.)
  • Additional Engineering activities outside of classwork (Formula SAE, Aerospace Club/SAE, Baja SAE, robotics team, etc.)
  • Experience in product design and/ or prototyping
  • Experience in data processing (Python, Matlab, etc.)
