What's the role?

You drive our activities in the area of multi-sensor fusion applied to localization, mapping and navigation within Corporate Research & Technology. Your innovative solutions will contribute to Hilti’s technology roadmap and future products definition.

What does the role involve?

In this exciting role you drive product and technology innovation in the area of computer vision and SLAM as well as machine learning. You are involved in R&D projects with national and international partners in industry and academia. You are familiar with state estimation techniques using camera, lidar and inertial sensors. You assess technical feasibility and demonstrate customer value of new ideas by developing proof-of-concepts and functional prototypes. You apply your experience and profound knowledge to enable a diversity of applications in the areas of robotics, navigation and surveying.

What you need is:

  • Masters or PhD in computer science, electrical engineering, applied mathematics/physics.
  • 3+ years of relevant experience in academia/industry.
  • Strong experience in several of the following domains: visual/lidar/inertial localization and mapping, sensor fusion, point cloud processing, motion tracking. Machine learning of advantage.
  • Profound theorical knowledge in: statistics, kalman filters, optimization theory, photogrammetry, state estimation.
  • Good programming skills in python or C/C++.
  • Fluency in English.
