Intern or Master thesis student - IoT Researcher

What's the role?

You will join our international team in Corporate Research & Technology, where you will evaluate and develop innovative solutions using IoT platforms. This role offers you the opportunity to engage with the latest available technologies in the area of wireless connectivity, asset tracking, and health & safety. You will have the chance to experiment with both hardware and innovative algorithms, as well as develop your ideas from scratch.

The start date is flexible (reference starting date between February and March 2025), and the internship will have a duration of at least 6 months.

What does the role involve?

As an intern in our department, you will contribute to improve the future digitalization, and automation of the construction sector. You will be part of a development team researching innovative IoT technologies and algorithms for connectivity, asset tracking, and health & safety applications in job sites. You will collaborate closely with our experts to experiment with state-of-the-art wireless technologies (e.g., BLE, UWB, WiFi, LoRa, GNSS, etc.) and tackle real-world challenges in the construction industry. Your responsibilities will include performing data collection and analysis using both machine learning and statistical methods, modelling and simulating real connectivity problems, and developing physical prototypes for real construction environments.

What you need is:

  • Current Master student in Telecommunications, Electronic Engineering, Physics, Mathematics or similar discipline.
  • Experience in one or more of the following fields: wireless connectivity, probability and sensor fusion theory, reinforcement learning and/or other machine learning methods.
  • Knowledge in embedded platforms, meshes, wireless signal propagation simulation is a plus.
  • Good knowledge of one or more of the following programming languages: Python, Matlab, C, C++.
  • Strong communication skills, with good English and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive approach and self-reliant personality.
