Business Developper & Construction Project Manager Industry

In addition to pharmaceuticals, BeLux is experiencing a significant trend in data center construction. This ranges from hyperscale projects by companies like Google to smaller colocation data centers by organizations such as LCL, Mercury and KBC.

As a Business Developer and Construction Project Manager (BD/CPM), you will integrate strategic long-term business development with hands-on construction project management. This unique role focuses on increasing Hilti’s market share within the Pharma and Data Center industries, excluding hyperscale Google projects.

Business Developer:
- Develop strategic partnerships and project pipelines with Pharma and Data Center companies.
- Drive Hilti specifications, fostering positive sales growth at both account and project levels (MRO).
- Monitor and analyze economic and market trends to identify opportunities and adjust strategies accordingly.
- Build and nurture senior-level relationships within target customer organizations to implement account strategies proactively.

Construction Project Manager:
- Oversee the successful execution of specific construction projects sourced from the Business Developer’s pipeline.
- Maximize Hilti’s influence in projects by identifying critical opportunities, offering tailored solutions (e.g., BIM), and ensuring seamless execution.
- Build and manage project networks, including legal reviews, BIM coordination, logistic planning, pricing strategies, and soft specification creation.
- Lead daily sales steering activities through Project Account Managers, focusing on Pharma and Data Center projects (excluding hyperscale Google).

The role requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and relationship-building to drive success in both business development and project management. Here’s what we’re looking for:

1. Communication and Relationship Management

  • Demonstrated ability to build trust and clarity through active listening and respectful communication, adapting your style to suit various stakeholders.
  • Confidence in networking and managing senior-level relationships, including engaging with C-level customers.

2. Strategic Thinking and Planning
  • Proactive, medium- and long-term strategic thinking to create and implement a customer development strategy that is clear, actionable, and transferable to peers, customers, and management.
  • Strong ability to align stakeholders—both internal and external—around a shared strategy, even without direct leadership authority, by addressing pain points and market trends effectively.

3. Autonomy and Initiative
  • Self-motivated with the ability to plan and execute tasks independently while staying aligned with broader strategic goals.
  • Adaptability to shifting market trends and customer needs, ensuring swift adjustments to strategies and actions.

4. Technical and Product Knowledge
  • Strong understanding of MEP applications, firestop systems, anchoring, fastening on steel, and secondary steel structures.
  • Proficiency in addressing customer questions confidently, supported by in-depth process, product, and application knowledge.

5. Sales and Negotiation Skills
  • Proven ability to sell systems and solutions, combining technical insights with commercial acumen to deliver high-value propositions.

6. Project Management Expertise
  • Competence in managing complex projects across multiple geographies, functions, and customer profiles.
  • Close collaboration with international business developers, construction project managers, directors, and the global Energy & Industry team to ensure seamless execution.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A master’s degree in business, sales, or a related field is strongly preferred, with a proven track record in business development.
  • A strong interest in and ability to understand technical products and solutions, particularly in construction. The ability to translate technical features into customer value propositions is essential.
  • Proven ability to consistently exceed sales targets and deliver value-driven results
  • Solid knowledge and application of project management principles.

Skills and Competencies
  • A high degree of independence, personal accountability, and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Affinity for technical products, services, and software solutions, with the ability to convey their value effectively.
  • Basic knowledge in piping, electrical and firestop industrial applications.
  • Exceptional communication skills in English, complemented by fluency in Dutch and/or French.
  • Ability to inspire and work closely with diverse teams to achieve common goals.
  • Proven problem-solving skills, particularly in understanding and addressing project business and customer development needs.
  • A structured and organized approach to problem-solving and clear planning capabilities.

  • Work closely with diverse disciplines such as civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation, piping, and procurement teams.

4. Technical Leadership
  • Drive specifications at the application level in collaboration with Hilti’s technical teams and the customer’s project teams.
  • Focus heavily on MEP, firestop applications, and secondary steel structures.

5. Market and Economic Analysis
  • Continuously monitor market trends and economic conditions to identify opportunities and adapt strategies to capitalize on changing environments.

6. Global Collaboration
  • Collaborate with multiple offices and branches, including those located outside Belgium, ensuring alignment and synergy across international teams.
