What does the role involve?

In this role, you will be the go-to expert for all simulation techniques related to the development of our high-performance batteries. Collaborating closely with experienced designers and specialists in battery cells and software, you´ll play a pivotal role in integrating advanced simulation techniques into our R&D processes. Together with our strong and supportive simulation team, you´ll make a significant contribution to our leading cordless platform, NURON.
You´ll also take on a key role in optimizing and advancing both existing and future simulation methods. Working hand-in-hand with our testing teams, you´ll develop predictive models known for their exceptional accuracy and reliability.

What you need is:

  • Completed degree with theoretical background in numerical calculation methods or model-based product development
  • Familiarity with the principles of thermal design for battery packs
  • In-depth knowledge of battery cell technology & chemistry, battery management systems (BMS), and control algorithms, including discharge and fast-charging algorithms, as well as battery operating strategies
  • Practical experience with at least one of the mature battery cell modeling & validation techniques
  • (Equivalent Circuit Modeling (ECM) & thermal modeling, electro-chemical modeling, 3D (FEM/CFD) modeling with derivation of reduced order models)
  • Experience with electro-thermal performance simulation of cells/modules/packs and system performance simulation of battery-driven electrical drivetrain
  • Proficient in at least one established battery simulation tool (e.g., Matlab, Simulink, Simscape, Ansys Fluent, StarCCM+)
  • Experience in calibrating model parameters for battery components and optimizing them
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills
  • Excellent teamwork and communication abilities, knowledge of German is a plus
