Hilti Graduate Program - Sales & Engineering Track

What does the role involve?

It’s a 2-year program in which we invest deeply in your professional and personal development. You start with a one-month training program with comprehensive in-house courses, training days and learning on the job with colleagues. The program itself will last for a minimum of 2 years, with the aim at the end to grow into the role of a Field Engineer.

What does the program look like?

12 months (minimum) : In your first year, you will start as an  Account Manager  and get hands-on experience and a deep insight into the core of our business, our customers, products, services and software. In this rotation you will gain soft skills that you will be able to leverage during your whole career at Hilti. Your sales territory (specific region) will be in either  Belgium or Luxembourg depending on where you live.

12 months (minimum) : For your second rotation, you will join our in-house Engineering department in Anderlecht  (= Engineering Competence Center) to focus on supporting clients with anchor calculations (phase 1) and additional installation & firestop calculations (phase 2). You will develop the technical skills needed to advise our customers and have a solid technical base to further grow your engineering career.
Besides the technical support, you will be able to work on strategic Digital Marketing projects linked to engineering (steering online webinars for example) to further develop your business and soft skills.

In the final  3 months of the program, you will transition towards your landing position as Field Engineer by taking up a Junior Project/Field Engineering responsibility  at 40% of your time for a specific project or a specific group of customers (including specifiers). This will allow you to put in practice all of the skills you developed during the program and prepare you for your next career step.

Landing position (minimum 2-3 years) : after completing the program, your landing position will be as a Field Engineer (based in Belgium or in Luxembourg) where you will combine both field-based work (customer visits, sales presentations, demos) with technical calculations and expertise. You will work closely with our Sales teams to grow our customer base for our engineering solutions (products, software, etc.).

What you need is:

  • You’ve recently graduated or will soon graduate with an Engineering degree
  • You’re fluent in English and French OR Dutch
  • You have a maximum of 2 years of professional experience
  • You’re engaged in activities beyond studies and demonstrate good leadership skills
  • You’re mature, assertive and committed to your career development with good communication skills
  • You describe yourself as flexible, proactive and able to come up with solutions
  • You’re ambitious and you are preferably prepared to relocate nationally or internationally at some point in the future.

Who should apply?

We have an excellent mix of people and some of our best graduates joined us with no experience of the construction industry. So, if you’ve never worked in sales or construction, that’s fine with us. Success at Hilti is down to teamwork and ability, no matter what your background.

The Hilti Engineering Graduate Program combines the advantages of a direct start in the real working world with an intensive learning program and intensive training to support personal development:

  • You will have real responsibility from day one, managing your own client portfolio
  • You will gain extensive exposure to and mentorship from senior management
  • You will participate in regular career guidance and development discussions
  • A landing position after 24 months in the Engineering team with multiple potential steps for your career development in BeLux and/or internationally


Recruitment process :

  1. Online video interview
  2. HR interview (via Teams)
  3. Engineering Manager interview (via Teams or in-person)
  4. Half-day Assessment Center in our Anderlecht HQ (combination of technical and business exercises)
