BIM Firestop Engineer

What's the role?

As a BIM Firestop Engineer, you will design applications of Firestop in BIM models based on Hilti’s approvals, test data and proprietary software suite. You will drive technical customer engagement through value/customer-oriented problem-solving support. In addition to providing bill of materials to other Hilti functions (e.g. supply chain) for further processing, you will develop technical application competence within sales and business development teams.

What does the role involve?

  • On request of the BIM Project Manager assess availability of required information, the scope and required time to perform engineering services
  • Based on the customer requirements create the “design core & specifics” that serves as the BIM Design guideline for the BIM Modeler(s) (internal/external)
  • In collaboration with the BIM Project Manager actively join engineering meetings with all parties involved to coordinate an optimal firestop solution
  • Engineering of complete applications as lead engineer based on Hilti Firestop approvals and test data
  • Ensure proper engineering documentation as per design guideline
  • Collaborate on project execution with International BIM Lead Engineer to perform value Engineering and ensure adherence to relevant Hilti / BIM standards in engineering
  • Serve as Hilti’s technical conscience on all projects where you are involved
  • For highly complex cases beyond current competence proactively involve BLE of BIM Competence Centre
  • Establish excellent working relationships with BLE of the BIM Competence Centre and functional counterparts in regions
  • Create open working climate through integration and motivation of others

What you need is:

  • Degree in engineering, preferably in Structural/Civil or Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience in the Construction industry
  • AutoCAD experience
  • Passive Fire Protection experience is beneficial
  • Familiality with BIM modelling software is beneficial
  • Understanding of the correlation between technical and commercial aspects of engineering work
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills
