What's the role?

The International Business Developer (IBD) is a technical sales role, forming part of the global Hilti Business Development community. As the International Business Developer you will be proactively developing business opportunities and creating project leads through a selected portfolio of Top Accounts involved in the electronics industry worldwide.
Your main focus will be on companies providing semiconductor solutions, battery producers and technical professional services firms who have developed expertise in building electronics plants and R&D centres world-wide. Your aim will be to maximise Hilti’s sales potential with these customers building networks and sustainable relationships by providing a high standard of technical service and engineering consultancy together with the global Hilti Engineering Community. You will need to craft a strategy and lead its execution leveraging the wider Hilti direct sales force to improve our commercial relationships, drive technical specifications and acquire projects. Finally, you will be coordinating a worldwide team associated with these accounts.

What does the role involve?

As the Business Developer you will form strategic alliances with your customer/contractors and establish a Global Framework and Service Level Agreements. You will focus on contractor projects within and outside of the hosting country making sure the business is developed across the relevant geographies, whilst maintaining effective communication systems throughout the team and company. You will develop sustainable technical partnerships with Contractors and tap into the customer’s global supply chain and standard detail designs.
Other key elements of the role will be to deliver superior value: understand what constitutes value in a customer’s mind through Hilti’s technical expertise in the Electronics industry. In this context you will contribute with your inputs shaping the future segment strategy. You will autonomously manage the project development pipeline, identifying and prioritising specifiable applications supported by the Hilti technical team. You will be working closely with team members in other countries and will be exposed to Hilti’s senior management team due to the importance of the project.

What you need is:

  • BSc Degree in mechanical, electrical or civil engineering ideally combined with business administration
  • Multi-level customer contacts and stakeholder management
  • The ability to involve and influence and drive strategic topics
  • Strong business development/sales experience for specified engineering products or sales of technical solutions.
  • Design engineering experience on BIM (Building Information Modelling) - or the willingness to learn
  • Previous experience with or within EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Contractors) and experience on Electronics projects is appreciated
  • Ability to act independently and craft own strategic direction
  • A high level of travel willingness in your focus markets Switzerland, Germany and Austria
  • Excellent presentation skills
