Strategic Category Manager (m/w/d)

What's the role?

Join our dynamic team at Hilti Headquarters in Liechtenstein as a Strategic Category Manager and dive into vital tasks such as Material Group Strategies, Purchasing Methodologies and Professional Negotiations.
You will oversee all aspects of sourcing, utilizing your expertise to identify cost saving opportunities, foster competitive environments, negotiate creatively, and ensure availability of all products to support the organization.

What does the role involve?

In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing material group purchasing strategies, utilizing cutting-edge strategic instruments such as scenario planning, game theory-based auctions, advanced negotiations, and design to cost methodologies to achieve targets. You will work closely with key stakeholders across the organization, including business units, cross-functional teams, regional organizations, and plants, to align and implement purchasing strategies effectively. As an internal consultant to the management team, you will play a vital role in optimizing holistic supply chain challenges and developing innovative solutions for complex strategic projects. Your expertise in analyzing industry trends and emerging technologies will enable you to proactively identify supply base issues, mitigate risks, ensure continuity of supply, and capitalize on emerging opportunities.
Additionally, you will be responsible for managing the purchasing tasks of projects, including new product development and technical projects, to support the business unit roadmap.

What you need is:


  • Proven experience in purchasing or consulting within a complex, global corporate environment
  • A master's degree in engineering or business administration 
  • Proficiency in negotiation skills including researching and anticipating shifts in the negotiating power of suppliers
  • Analytical Excellence: Strong conceptual thinking paired with outstanding analytical skills to drive innovative solutions
  • Fluency in spoken and written English with additional languages skills considered an advantage.
