International Business Developer – Energy – Manchester/Stafford/Birmingham (home-based with UK and international travel)

What's the role?

The International Business Developer (IBD) is a strategic, technical and project development role, forming part of the global Hilti Business Development community. As the International Business Developer, you will proactively develop business opportunities through a selected portfolio of existing key accounts within the global energy industry.

What does the role involve?

As the International Business Developer, you will form strategic alliances with your customers, develop and implement tailored strategies, and establish Global Frameworks and Service Level Agreements. Here, you will focus on projects within and outside of Great Britain to ensure the business is developed across the relevant geographies, whilst maintaining effective collaboration and communication across multiple teams, including Hilti Large Projects organization, Engineering community and Legal teams.

You will autonomously initiate and manage the project development pipeline, by understanding what generates value in a customer’s mind through Hilti’s technical expertise in the Energy industry, identifying and prioritising specifiable applications, supported by the Hilti technical team, and collaborating with Hilti senior management and team members to ensure the successful delivery of projects.

  • Accountable for the development of Global Accounts in Energy and New Energy, such as hydrogen and carbon capture and storage, through account standardisation, project specification, sales development and multi-level relationship management, with a view of increasing Hilti impact in large projects and deliver value to Hilti customers.
  • Accountable for the strategy of the assigned accounts, leading its implementation globally through Hilti and Oglaend counterparts.
  • Ownership of the account global project pipeline and proactive management of Hilti and Oglaend project capture teams to drive the aligned focus projects.
  • Ownership of market intelligence and being the SME for the industry for Global teams.
  • Develop and grow a strong network within the Energy sector and improve Hilti visibility in the energy sector.
  • Ensuring high conversion rate of generated specifications into actual sales by closely following up with the responsible sales team and project tracking across the various stages.

What you need is:

  • Strong technical business development and sales experience for specified engineering products/services or technical solutions beyond pure products.
  • Outstanding entrepreneurial spirit, ability to identify, understand and deliver solutions based on value proposition.
  • Industry knowledge in the power (Utility, Generation, T&D and OEM) and/or broader energy and new energy sectors (Oil and Gas and New Energy).
  • An Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical or Civil Engineering Degree or equivelent experience
  • Ability to develop multi-level customer contacts also at C-level and stakeholder management, with excellent presentation skills.
  • Strong project management experience across complex organisations, multiple teams and geographies, with the ability to involve, influence and drive strategic topics.
  • Ability to act independently and craft own strategic direction in a structured manner.
  • Full Manual UK or EU Drivers License
