What's the role?
The Resident Field Engineer is embedded in the account of our mega customers / or mega projects working side by side with design teams and decision makers. They are responsible for maximizing the specification and sales of our fastening and protection portfolio by working directly within the engineering department of defined customer.

What does the role involve?
- Resident to the office and/or jobsite of defined customer account as per the needs of the customer.
- Acts on behalf of Hilti within customer environment – utilizing Hilti expertise to further improve the customers solution choices, whilst learning the ways Hilti can apply this approach across multiple accounts with a typical Field Engineer / Engineer Solution Specialist arrangement
- Resident engineer will support the technical needs and question of the account capture team including business developers, regional managers, and account managers.
- Resident engineer will have the responsibility to develop contact matrix within the engineering design units of the mega customer to identify upcoming projects in the pre-design phase.
- Specifies creation of engineered solutions for overhead grid, multi-trade racking, raised floor, pipe/cable tray supports, seismic bracing solutions, Energy & Industry stands.
- Provides practical check and value engineering on engineered solution as it relates to project environment and application as well as market competitiveness. Applies technical expertise to designs as needed.
- Support the delivery of engineering designs for our BIM services. Attend project coordination meetings and support BIM Project Manager with client technical questions.
- Drive usage of Hilti software in the engineering departments of assigned mega customers.
- Works directly with PMO to collect proper information and relay questions and change requests between PMO and customer. Supports the interface with 3 rd party engineering and design partner. Will generate complete Manufactures Standardization Society request and participate in project meetings to monitor progress and timeline of project delivery.
- Tracks successes/failures and regularly provides Return On Investment assessment and bid proposal conversion rate.
- Leverages Technical Back-Office, Hilti Field Engineer, Regional Manager, Engineered Solutions Specialist, Project Manager, and Account Manager as needed throughout the process.
- Responsible to oversee and review Bill of Materials as well as final order fulfillment
- Provide field training to customers as needed during installation
- Provide feedback as needed to product and technical departments on customer needs as they relate to products, software, or other programs
- Increase productivity of the customer by guiding and coordinating engineering designs (working together with AM on job site visits, providing support for Project Manager and Strategic Business support, etc.)
- Actively utilize Hilti Customer Relationship Management platform to share progress and maximize Hilti Statement of Work on assigned customer projects that ensure specified applications are won and captured through to sales conversion
- High expectation of internal coordination amongst many departments and leaders
- Understand Codes, Regulations and Technical Criteria pertinent to local markets, and be able to communicate related issues and opportunities with Sales Management
- Ensure the provision of designed engineered solutions and calculation services through identification of target applications, creation of designed solutions, provision of bid packages to said customer.
- Review project specifications or calculations for engineers; provide feedback to designers regarding accuracy, suitability, , cost reduction, and code compliance
- Provide competent recommendations to engineers, architects, and in-house designers on specific applications using sound engineering judgment; educate specifier on technical advantages of Hilti solutions not covered by test data
- Competent written communication with customers; such communication must be technically accurate, minimize Hilti’s exposure, and demonstrate common-sense problem-solving capabilities
- Provide professional educational seminars and presentations for Architecture /Engineering firms to inform them of Hilti products, their performance characteristics, applications, and product limitations
- Face to face, telephone, and electronic communication with account manager, strategic business personnel, sales managers, contractors, designers, specifiers, or officials of codes and approvals
- Other duties as needed or assigned
