The Hilti OnTrack team is seeking a high-caliber and highly motivated Senior Software Development Engineer (SDE 4) / Tech Lead to lead the planning, design, implementation, and delivery of critical components for our cutting-edge asset management solution tailored to the construction industry.

What does the role involve?

• Technical Leadership:
• Lead and mentor a team of software engineers, providing guidance on best practices, coding standards, and design principles.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product Management, QA, DevOps) to define project scope, timelines, and deliverables.
• Drive the adoption of modern software engineering practices, including CI/CD, automated testing, and cloud-native development.
• Software Development:
• Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable, and reliable software systems.
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code, following best practices and coding standards.
• Participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to improve code quality.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in a timely manner.
• Project Management:
• Oversee the implementation of projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.
• Prioritize and manage multiple tasks, balancing short-term and long-term goals.
• Communicate project status, risks, and challenges to stakeholders effectively.
• Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture, encouraging innovation and continuous improvement.

What you need is:

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, or related technical discipline AND 10+ years’ experience building software and complex services
• 5+ years of working experience in designing, building, and managing highly available and distributed services
• 5+ years of experience in software engineering, preferably using Java, C#, JavaScript, and related frameworks preferably Spring, React
• 5+ years of working experience with cloud services such as AWS, Azure, or others, and familiarity with cloud concepts such as orchestration and microservices
• Experience in software engineering practices, coding and solid foundation in data structures, algorithms with proven testing, debugging and analytical skills
• Familiarity with DevOps practices such as continuous integration, continuous delivery, testing, and monitoring
• Effective communication, collaboration skills, ability to deal with ambiguity and prioritize issues to create clarity
